Re: Geminoid Challenge
@dvgrn : I'm curious, how do you manage to easily and friendily edit all these big, complicated patterns? What program do you use that lets you get everything in the right "phase" and what not in an efficient, user-friendly manner?

B3/S238
Has anyone really explored this rule seriously? It is very close to Conway's Game of Life, but not quite it (as one might expect since the only deviation requires 8 live cells surrounding another live cell, of which there is only one way to have). Many familiar Conway objects work, such as the glide...

Re: How are Life patterns made?
Mike3, To fully answer your questions, some information about your interests in CA and what you would like to do with them would be useful. Are you only interested in the Life rule or do you want to explore other rules with a variety of neighborhoods and state interactions? Do you want to construct...

Re: How are Life patterns made?
To clarify: I've noticed that hand-assembling patterns from known components in programs like Golly is quite user-unfriendly, because one often needs the components at differing stages of evolution. So I was wondering if there was an "easier" program.

How are Life patterns made?
Hi.
I'm wondering: what kind of programs do you use to make Life patterns? Also, is there some database of known reactions in the Game of Life? How are reactions involving known components found, like interactions between gliders and oscillators?
