The definition of a sawtooth requires that it alternates between finite and infinite population infinitely many times.

If there were a reaction between a moon and a duoplet that created a new duoplet further from the gun at the end and then started dragging the other duoplet behind, you'd be able to make a sawtooth with your gun and one duoplet, for example.
Your pattern grows mostly linearly, but the speed at which the population increases alternates between two speeds after longer and longer times. I'm not good enough at mathematics to use some fancy word to describe the speed at which it takes longer because I don't think it's logarithmic.

Or rather, it has to return to its initial population infinitely often. That keeps the average population from tending toward infinity as T increases. A finite pattern won't get to an infinite population, except maybe at T=infinity.

The moonrake puller eats duoplets slower and slower, so pretty soon it has a negligible effect on the otherwise linearly increasing population of this interesting sawtooth-ish object. You would think that when you get to infinity all the duoplets would have been eaten -- but the line of remaining duoplets would also be infinitely long at that point. It's probably better to just approach infinity and not try to imagine actually getting there...!

This allow construction of boundary effect and heterogeneity in the space.

Background:
The construction of this rule is inspired by the fact that the lifespan within a bounded grid is positively related to the randomness along its edges, as revealed by previous comparative study of torus, plane and toroidal tubes. So I figured the best way to provide randomness along the of a B3/S23 grid is to connect it to another cellular automaton that is highly vivid and dynamic, in this case 23/2/4.

Although a trivial attempt, there must be more to explore.

PS: The tools are not perfect yet. I am currently unable to count the live cells since medium cell is recognised as a live cell, and it's computationally way too inefficient to process cell list to count live cells. We need efficient determination of population and bounding box to allow further investigation.
