B36i/S2-i35i is interesting yet extremely slow due to very natural 14c/182d pond puffers. I'd like someone to help with hauls

B2i3-c4q/S2-i3-c4cw

has many interesting spaceships and common high-period oscillators
medium to slowish speed in apgsearch, but really worth it
I'm searching it at the moment

the xq78 has a crazily beautiful synthesis from the common xp98

I think B36i/S2-i35i is worth soup-searching. It would be easier to find interesting things if people besides me search. Although it's astronomically slower than most rules.

B2-a3a/S1c23 has a huge variety of still lifes as well as oscillators. I only searched ~10000 sups, but got oscillators in all periods up to 20 except 13 and 19, and still lifes of all sizes between 6 and 100, among others. No spaceships so far.

p17 (simplified from haul version):

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 8, rule = B2-a3a/S1c23

Already searched quite a bit - features pi puffers that make searching difficult, but it does have interesting patterns, like a tiny c/14 diagonal.

Synths in B3-e7/S23-c, a related rule:

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 16, rule = B3-e7/S23-c

bo$8b2o$3o!

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 7, rule = B3-e7/S23-c
bo$2bo$3o3$b2ob2o$bobobo!

This rule is very interesting too and lacks the pi-puffers so I suggest apgsearching B3-e7/S23-c

Funny 3G-->2G:

Code: Select all

x = 10, y = 8, rule = B3-e7/S23-c

EDIT: real gems coming up: the parent rule small C1-symmetric xq11 and a D2 symmetric blinker puffer!!

That type of tone isn't going to get you anywhere. Maybe you could do some manual searching and look for more interesting patterns. I suggest getting your own version of apgsearch and ntzfind.

For apgsearch, you probably want Aidan's apgsearch-2016-1-21-v0.54+0.21i.py. You'll also need wildmyron's isotropic-rule.py, which generates the necessary rule files -- this was necessary because past Golly didn't natively support non-totalistic rules, and today it's still necessary because apgsearch hasn't been adapted yet to use Golly's native support instead of custom rules.

For more, see the wiki.

B/S2ckn and B3e/S2ce3cn both search extremely quickly (the latter seems faster), and allow only a set of homologous series to exist - the former allows a family consisting of the tub, beehive, boat, mango and other patterns that would be degenerate in regular Life, and the latter only allows tubarges, boats and ships.

Let's see who can get the longest versions to show up

That's not a valid rule, at least according to Golly (or any syntax I've seen)
