B3/S1e23iqr

Post by Hdjensofjfnen » March 7th, 2019, 7:34 pm

A rule that looks like it might be as engineerable as dominoplex.
To start off, the rule has this xq2:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B3/S1e23iqr
obo$o$obo!
Pseudo-heisenburps, which look promising:

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 4, rule = B3/S1e23iqr
5b3o$obo$2bo2bobo$obo!

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 9, rule = B3/S1e23iqr
bobo2$b3o4$2o$b2o$2o!

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 9, rule = B3/S1e23iqr
obo2$3o4$2o$b2o$2o!
** EDIT: With B35y/S1e23iqr it's even more ridiculous:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 9, rule = B35y/S1e23iqr
obo2$3o4$2o$b2o$2o!
2G --> 4G superunity:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 9, rule = B3/S1e23iqr
3bobo2$3b3o4$2o$b2o$2o!
6-cell infinite growth:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = B3/S1e23iqr

Two glider very big messes:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 4, rule = B3/S1e23iqr

Code: Select all

Glider eater:

Domino toggle:

apgsearch must love these giant flowery reactions that set everything nearby on fire:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 1, rule = B3/S1e23iqr
3o!
And this stuff, too:

Code: Select all

EDIT: Which I believe is 10 cells at the least if I am not mistaken. You know it's bad when even LifeViewer is struggling.

I knew it wouldn't take long, given that at least nine or ten gliders fly from every soup.
EDIT: A different six-cell infinite growth (6c/13o) that probably makes apgsearch want to curl up and cry:

EDIT: In the sister rule with B5y, it's a quieter Sierpinski triangle generator:

I think it's definitely one of the factors in making the rule unapgsearchable -- maybe the B5y variant is better suited for apgsearch? (ZZ_LINEAR would probably be thrown upon reaching the 6-cell Sierpinski generator.)

This rule could use some refining, any transitions which could decrease explosiveness?

Depends on which things you want to preserve. Removing B3e removes the six-cell explosion and preserves two of the three pseudo-Heisenburps, but not the 2G->4G:

Code: Select all

x = 104, y = 76, rule = B3-e/S1e23iqr
o$o5bo$o5bo$6bo10$33b3o$28bobo$30bo2bobo$28bobo13$55bobo2$55b3o4$54b2o
$55b2o$54b2o8$76bobo2$76b3o4$76b2o$77b2o$76b2o14$101bobo2$101b3o4$98b
2o$99b2o$98b2o!
EDIT: Adding B8 is a better option:

Code: Select all

x = 104, y = 76, rule = B38/S1e23iqr
o$o5bo$o5bo$6bo10$33b3o$28bobo$30bo2bobo$28bobo13$55bobo2$55b3o4$54b2o
$55b2o$54b2o8$76bobo2$76b3o4$76b2o$77b2o$76b2o14$101bobo2$101b3o4$98b
2o$99b2o$98b2o!
It removes the six-cell explosion, preserves the three pseudo-Heisenburps and turns the 2G->4G into a 2G->6G. :o

This diagonal puffer works in both the original rule and the B8 variant:

Code: Select all

x = 38, y = 42, rule = B38/S1e23iqr
5b2o7$12b2o5$o$o$19b2o5$7bo$7bo$26b2o$26bobo2$32bobo$26bobo3bobo$14bo$
14bo15bo$29b3o$28bo2bo$27bo2bo$30bo$26bo2bo4b2o$26bo2bo6bo$27b5o3b3o$
30bo5bo$30b2o3$24b2o2$24b2o!
In the B3-e variant, it still works, but with a different trail.

EDIT 2: The B8 variant is apgsearchable, at a more reasonable speed (~70 soups/sec).

I was pointing out that it works in the B8 variant as well. And a rude statement like that is really rich coming from the person who continually failed to "look up" in the 5S thread. And that after I helped you by creating a non-explosive variant of your rule...

Anyway, do we have any Snarks yet? I think omniperiodicity may be achievable for this rule.

Natural breeder (in B8)!

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 16, rule = B38/S1e23iqr
2o2bo5b3o2bo$obo2b2o2b5o$ob4o2bo3b3o$ob3o5bobo$bob4obo4b3o$obo3bobo3b

bo$bobo2bob3obo2bo$o9b3o2bo$2bo4bob2o3bo$5obobobo2b3o!
It's sufficiently rare for the rule not to be explosive, though. I like the way all the output puffers are aligned.

(The double-barrelled gun, unfortunately, does not work in either the B8 variant or the B3-e one. It seems to be quite difficult to find rules in which that gun works but not the explosive failedrep.)

EDIT: Found one:

Code: Select all

x = 62, y = 4, rule = B37c/S1e23iqr
o$o5bo44b3o$o5bo36b2o6bobo3b2ob2o$6bo44b3o!
It preserves the three pseudo-Heisenburps, but not the 2G->4G, which is turned into a less interesting 2G->1G:

Code: Select all

x = 104, y = 76, rule = B37c/S1e23iqr
o$o5bo$o5bo$6bo10$33b3o$28bobo$30bo2bobo$28bobo13$55bobo2$55b3o4$54b2o

2o$99b2o$98b2o!
The diagonal puffer also does not work in this variant.

The B7c variant does appear to be stable, and apgsearches at a speed similar to the B8 one.

It certainly didn't look that way. And obviously on several occasions in the 5S thread I was clearly either
1) actually helping,
or 2) thinking I was actually helping because I read the database incorrectly.
The fact that other forumers think I'm just a good-for-nothing idiot is genuinely insulting.
