It seems like most p23n circuitry is interchangeable with p20n because the mechanisms are virtually identical (sadly the p20 suicidal c/6 gun doesn't work with p23)

It's a shame that there are no push reactions/ships slower than the replicator/diagonal ships because if there were we could probably make slower repships :(
If there were 90° reflectors we could probably make high-period oscillators of periods ≠ 15n

Cool rules are all over the place. Here's a new cool rule, B2cek3q4-i/S13ck4k:
It has 2 p33 oscillators:

Code: Select all

x = 18, y = 16, rule = B2cek3q4-i/S13ck4k
6bo7bo2$5bo9bo2$6bo7bo11$ob2obo2b2o2bob2obo!
It also has lots of guns (because the larger p33 has glider sparks):

Code: Select all

The p33 is easily pushable:

There are probably spaceships of speeds 6kc/(50k+33(n+C)) based on reactions like the ones above, but I've only found a 6c/116 (p232):

Just like the example I gave, in the second rake (extensible) the glider that triggers the reactivation reaction actually pushes the p33 twice and leaves behind a domino, which the second glider cleans up. So there are 2 signals but one of them just cleans up the debris from the double push (which could probably be fixed by modifying the reflector) Nothing spooky going on there.
If it helps with engineering, there are (at least) 4 different "push" reactions for long lines of p33s:

Code: Select all

x = 128, y = 39, rule = B2cek3q4-i/S13ck4k
106bo18bo$25bo18bo59b3o4bo8bo4b3o$23b3o4bo8bo4b3o59bo2bo2bo6bo2bo2bo$

23b3o4bo8bo4b3o20b2o2bob2obo$25bo18bo$2o2bob2obo77bo16bo$84b3o18b2o$
83bo3bob2obo6bob2obo$85b2o18b2o$82b2o3bo16bo!
There are probably loads of these with different horizontal, vertical, and phase shifts which would make engineering much easier. The top left doesn't produce gliders, which is probably useful.
Any sufficiently advanced software is indistinguishable from malice.

Ahh, I hadn't noticed that in your original example so I didn't know what was going on when I replicated it. But in that case, here's an extensible+adjustable "single-signal" 6c/something*N rake:

danny and Majestas42 apgsearched B2cek3q4-i/S13ck4k (thanks guys) so now we have (natural) 2-engine ships from 6c/50-6c/116 and 12c/100, as well as this 12c/34 p33 puffer (wickstretcher?):

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 10, rule = B2cek3q4-i/S13ck4k
4bo2$5bo2$4bo3$2o2$2o!
4-engine 12c/133 from the natural 12c/133 rake:

Code: Select all

x = 50, y = 28, rule = B2cek3q4-i/S13ck4k

Weird B0 rule:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 5, rule = B012ce3ai4artz5jy6c/S12-ek3-kry4cikw5acenr6n
2o$o2bo$o$bo2bo$2bobo!
Lots of 2c/4 diagonal ships, seems like diagonal Star Wars.
I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules. I also wrote EPE, a tool for searching in the INT rulespace.

Things to work on:
- Find (7,1)c/8 and 9c/10 ships in non-B0 INT.
- EPE improvements.

Yes, that rule is referred to as 'HoneyLife'. It isn't that interesting, at least compared to B38/S23 'PedestrianLife', which is also known. You can count on any mildly interesting isotropic rule (No letters or dashes) being known, considering there are only 262,144 of them, most of which being completely boring. Non-isotropic rules are very numerous, I forgot the exact number of them, but it's somewhere among the 2^100's.

It's actually called Pulsar Life (HoneyLife is B38/S238).

The number of NT isotropic rules is 2^102; but the interesting ones (i.e. support spaceships but don't explode at lightspeed) are only just over 27*2^93 in number.

Also you may have confused "totalistic" and "isotropic" there

Rules don't need to expand to be interesting per se.

Basically they represent specific arrangements of n cells within the Moore neighborhood (rotation/reflection independent).

A handy chart is at http://www.ibiblio.org/lifepatterns/neighbors2.html

Golly supports them natively (do Control -> Set Rule), and most other utilities do as well ever since August

Thank you. I am new, sort of stuck with Golly and B*/S* rules. BTW is B2aci/S234 a known rule?

Technically, all rules are already known. There may, however, be undiscovered patterns in your rule.

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 3, rule = B3-q4z5y/S234k5j
2b2o$b2o$2o!

Though in general rules with B2a are considered less interesting than chaotic but stable rules.

Minimal rule for one of saka's adjustable wickships contains this failed 2D replicator turned breeder:
