Thin spaceships

Post by Rhombic » August 25th, 2017, 8:15 am

Those that fit in all phases, or in most phases, in a fairly thin bounding box, orthogonal to the direction of travel.

This xq22 fits in 12/22 phases in a nx3 bounding box:

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 3, rule = B2ikn3-jnry4-acitz5er6-en78/S02-k3-ikn4jqtw5ck6c8
o2b2obo$3obobo$o5bo!
What is the highest period spaceship for which all phases, and history direction of travel, fit in a Nx3 bounding box?
The t-ship is obviously a p5 answer for this. Rules without B0, please.

NB. nx3 is the minimum thickness for all phases for rules without B2a.

Spaceship w/2xn bounding box if you happen to doubt their existence:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 2, rule = B2aik3n/S
obo$o!
This particular rule also has a replicator:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 2, rule = B2aik3n/S
obobo$o!

Not quite:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 2, rule = B1e3a/S2a4

moment

Right, OK, but you get what I meant hahaha. What non-B2a and non-B1e spaceships are contained in all their phases in a nx3 bounding box?

Does this work:

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 2, rule = B2e3i/S1c2ce

Code: Select all

x = 81, y = 96, rule = LifeHistory

Well, yes, that and the t-ship in tlife. What is the highest period we can get to?
So far, it's p5.

period 8 ship:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 1, rule = B2ce3inqy4ciq5aeiq6kn8/S02ck3j4r5ak6e

This is the highest period ship which fits in an Nx3 channel that I have found so far:

ortho 6c/26

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 3, rule = B2ei3ain4airt5ey/S02cek3y5e
o$obo$o!
Edit:

and in the spirit of "almost fits in an Nx3 channel", this 4c/32 fits in 20/32 generations:

Code: Select all

x = 4, y = 2, rule = B2e3ijr4n5cj/S012ei3ijnqr4air5a6n
o$ob2o!
The 5S project (Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds) is now maintained by AforAmpere. The latest collection is hosted on GitHub and contains well over 1,000,000 spaceships.

Semi-active here - recovering from a severe case of LWTDS.

1xn 12c/28

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 1, rule = B2ce4-cint67e8/S14567
2o3bob2obob2obob2obo!
found manually
The rule is really interesting and has a probably gun, I'm going to apgsearch it

1x8 3-cell spaceship, at 3c/30:

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 1, rule = B2cen3k4aciw5inq6ci7c/S02ikn3ae4ij5k6e
obo4bo!
EDIT 1x9 3-cell spaceship, at C/17:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 1, rule = B2cek3einry4-iktw5-ckny6ak78/S02n3nq4acknqrw5ek6-ce7e
obo5bo!
I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules. I also wrote EPE, a tool for searching in the INT rulespace.

Things to work on:
- Find (7,1)c/8 and 9c/10 ships in non-B0 INT.
- EPE improvements.

The main idea is for all the phases to fit in the thinnest possible bounding box, not just one phase :) although I recall a thread for 1D spaceships somewhere in other CA

p10 in 3xn all phase, 1xn initial phase:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 1, rule = B2eik3iy4aci5e6i8/S12cei3in4ce5i7e8
