Guess the pattern

Post by MathAndCode » January 13th, 2021, 10:59 am

The goal of this game is to describe a pattern (in B3S23) well enough for others to be able to guess it without naming that pattern or using certain words. One person will give another person a pattern to describe and a set of a few words/terms that the person may not use in trying to describe that pattern. The pattern can be a still-life (e.g. loaf), oscillator (e.g. toad), spaceship (e.g. loafer), active object (e.g. B-heptomino), or concept (e.g. spaceship). Once someone correctly guesses the pattern, the person who just described the pattern will give the first correct guesser a new pattern to describe and a set of words to not use. Of course, the describer may not simply name the pattern. In addition, the describer must describe, not identify the pattern (e.g. no saying that it is the most common oscillator or that it is hassled in unix), but there is more leeway with this when answering guessers' questions about the object. The describer must only describe one aspect of the pattern at a time and must wait until either a reasonable amount of time has passed or someone has guessed incorrectly before trying another description.

I shall start:
It is fairly common due to having two similar edgeshootable hexaplet predecessors.
I am tentatively considering myself back.

It can be used as a turner in multiple ways.

This object is what you get by removing the 31.4 from the snark.

You are not the user who describes the pattern. Only the user who correctly guessed the previous pattern describes the current pattern. You are supposed to guess the pattern.

I don't understand this so I'll let people either guess first or explain

That's correct, so now Entity Valkyrie 2 shall send you a pattern to describe and a list of words and phrases that you aren't allowed to use.

This pattern is the basis for large, nonexistent flying animals.

No. Also worth noting that I used "nonexistent" in a slightly unconventional manner—uses a [REDACTED] spané

Second tip: It was named for term A of a sequence when it really should've been named for A-1.
