Can we make pre-pulsar shuttle-based guns?

For discussion of specific patterns or specific families of patterns, both newly-discovered and well-known.

@Sokwe Thx! Another great tip. It would be nice to integrade the whole proccess:

1. Select pattern in golly and run python script.
2. Choose search parameters.
3. Run bellman.
4. Analyze bellman resultst with lifesrc (or mkstill).
5. Show results inside golly again.

----

@codeholic I think you just get all results and see what is the one with minimal population.

In JLS under "search options" in the "constraints" tab, there is a filter: "no more than X ON cells in generation 0". I then test various X until I find the one that's minimal. When minimizing a large asymmetric billiard table, the searches can take too long, so I can't always verify my minimal solution, but for smaller things, like these Bellman results, I think I can be reasonably confident that the solutions are minimal.

@codeholic I've just now noticed your bellman input post. Many thx!

Nobody ever posted the p29 glider loops based on the PPS reflectors - I was surprised to see they existed.

Left- dependent reflector, right - independent.

I don't know if this has any chance of improving a p29 gun, but it is relevant.

There is no known p29 glider gun, or did I miss something dramatically?

Sorry to say this, but I think somebody posted this before...
Edit: It's in the osc-supplement.zip in GoL status update thread, but I haven't seen the left one before!

I suppose what I said was unclear, neither were discovered by me. I just felt that they were relevant to the thread, because if someone could find a p29 nG->(n+1)G reaction this would help reroute everything, and I didn't know how many people had even been aware these reflectors existed.

There's no true-period 29 gun yet, there is a pseudo-period 29 gun (I think the best comes from p145).
