I found by pure luck that the 4-long titanic toroidal traveler can be followed by a small pattern. The pattern is 2c/3 up, and as the traveler is faster, the debris left on form a slope.

Code: Select all

This is an accidental discovery from the random files I have saved, and I have no idea what it's from or who made it but it's a p22 oscillator where four eaters act as rocks stabilizing an interaction between two beehives and two blinkers:

Code: Select all

x = 16, y = 17, rule = B3/S23

If I had discovered it I would have almost certainly uploaded it. So who made it?

Jason Summers -- 8 September 2005. It's in the database at pentadecathlon.com:

Minimum population is 46, at three consecutive generations before the one you quoted. It can be made into an agar, though it wasn't actually found with a normal RandomAgar search:

I was wondering about possible uses of Ponds in stable circuitry, especially for the honey-bit block + pond position. While trying to find a reaction of the B-heptamino using it, I found one I wasn't expecting; a collision resulting in the honey-bit 'eater' getting rotated 180 degrees with just one leftover block:

Code: Select all

x = 11, y = 8, rule = B3/S23
2o6b2o$b2o4bo2bo$2o5bo2bo$o7b2o3$7b2o$7b2o!
Unfortunately the block is really close to the honey-bit, and the only solution I've found requires a sacrificial block. Can anybody make anything with this?

(a Hershel track feeding into it can provide a glider for deletion, but it would be nice not to have to rely on that...)

Dirty edge-shooting MWSS seed triggered by LWSS coming from orthogonal direction:

Very clean MWSS to LWSS converter/one-time-turner/edge shooter:

Nice, though that's not an edge-shooter.

Yes, in a way, by building the eater with a couple of synchronized gliders just before the MWSS comes along... the eater shouldn't spend much time sitting in the output LWSS lane, since an edge shooter is supposed to be able to insert something into an existing stream. But if you have to synchronize those two gliders relative to the MWSS, you don't have a nice simple converter seed any more.

I wonder what the smallest clean *WSS -> 2*WSS converter is? It would be nice to be able to chain these together somehow. I can get an extra glider out of this collision easily enough:

Code: Select all

x = 20, y = 11, rule = B3/S23
19bo$17b3o$2bo13bo$o3bo11b2o$5bo$o4bo$b5o$13b2o$14bo$14bobo$15b2o!
So I suppose three more blocks would get an MWSS back, and then the chain could be extended that way.

I found a reaction involving a pi heptomino and made a growing spaceship out of it. The back end travels at c5/81.

Code: Select all

With the "outer" blocks shifted a bit, the reaction leaves behind debris until it self-destructs about 1800 generations later.

Here's a 8c/27 reaction that is almost a re-burnable wick, but the bi-blocks formed later get destroyed, causing the reaction to be clean:

Freeze-dried glider is 3 blocks, activated by a MWSS flyby:

Code: Select all

x = 20, y = 13, rule = B3/S23
18b2o$18b2o3$10b2o$10b2o2b2o$14b2o2$2bo$o3bo$5bo$o4bo$b5o!
A freeze-dried LWSS or MWSS would take 6 blocks, since there are reactions for glider + 3 blocks to produce them.

This is very close to being a p3 oscillator:

Code: Select all

x = 6, y = 6, rule = B3/S23

I strongly suspect that there is a part of a p3 oscillator that can support this.

An interesting reaction where a traffic light collides with a hive and block to create the same pattern shifted downward, plus a glider and a boat, in such a way that the reaction can be repeated:
