Re: My inventions

This thread might be more appropriate for the sandbox; it seems similar to the old Gustavo’s patterns thread, though hopefully (read as "God forbid") it will not become the site of heated arguements like that thread was earlier on.

I should also mention that there are many corderpuffers, and they are generally considered interesting if they have little ash, interesting and fairly clean ash, or are small. (Or are rakes). You also should know that given that there are so many corderpuffers, you might want to call them “N-engine puffer with [stuff in ash]” or something. Create a naming convention.

Also, here’s a thing you can do:
Make that “engineer” puffer a clean LWSS rake.

EDIT:
Of course the “self-shooter” survives; it doesn’t shoot its engines. The gliders hit the ash instead.

Re: the fact that you were surprised
I would honestly be more surprised if it WAS a puffer, because
1. Spaceships are more common than puffers.
2. You can’t just attach a few cells to a Glider/LWSS/whatever at random and expect to get a puffer. (See here for the first time I made that analogy.

Do you mind posting these in "Thread for your unsure discoveries" instead of making your own thread of things that are already known?

I think what he's doing is fine. Especially considering the forum is already cluttered as it is.

Good point. Though this thread belongs in the sandbox, as do most threads with names starting with “my”.

This is a symmetric period-2 ship. These are easy to find with programs like gfind and JavaLifeSearch, and there are hundreds (probably thousands) of such ships at this width. We don't typically keep track of p2 ships unless they have some notable property.

1. That's literally what the GPSE, or I'd call yl384_1_59_7aeb1999980c43b4945fb7fcdb023326, does much simpler and much more commonly (54 million occurences.)
2. That's extremely common during the interaction of ash left by switch engines.
3. Your necroposting...

Here are some examples of NATURAL and SIMPLER composite (literally only 2, not 4) switch engines if you insist; the only reason they are notable is because of their natural occurrence
