Why are new users inactive?

Post by Saka » March 25th, 2016, 2:01 am

(usually), Why does the "newest member" have 0 forum posts? It seems weird to me that people join only to do... er... nothing.

One thing that those with a user account can do that those without cannot (other than post) is look at the profiles of others. So that may be one explanation.

Or possibly, there are users out there who sign up first and then look around and then leave. There's that too. (Personally, I never sign up unless I commit to doing something that requires signing up, such as posting.)

1. "Ok! Let's see... muzik lives in Scotland, Saka is 11..." I wouldn't imagine people doing that
2."Cool! I found a new forum! Let's register! Ok, hmm... not that interesting, oh well!" Lesson: Check first, THEN register

There's a non-zero interval of time between a user joining and that user making his or her first post.

In that interval, another user could have joined.

Continue this process ad infinitum, and the current newest member will always have 0 posts.

I think they go "This is cool, let's go"
So they sign up and see all of the crazy shenanigans and huge patterns and go:

"oh"

"oh no"

*sign out*

Then they will have more than 0 posts
But then the topics would be deleted because the topics are vandalism, making the user have 0 posts
