Here's what happens on Golly2.7-gtk on 32 bit Linux.
1) Select a region with or without cells.
2) Move the viewpoint so that any selected cell goes to the edge of the viewport.
3) If you delete any ON cell on the edge, the green selection would go off only for that cell.

Re: Minor incorrect screen on selection
I can't reproduce that bug in Golly 2.8 so I'm pretty sure it's been fixed. 2.8 uses OpenGL for rendering patterns so there has been a lot of changes to the rendering code, including a number of simplifications that eliminated the need for some ugly code that was probably the cause of your bug.
Re: Minor incorrect screen on selection
Whoops, I didn't realize Golly 2.8 was out! Good to know!
Re: Minor incorrect screen on selection (Edit: Golly2.7-gtk)
Sorry for misleading you but 2.8 has not been released. Still in testing phase. I was hoping to release builds of 2.8b1 "soon" but things have been delayed by the recent demise of my iMac's hard drive (which is the only machine I have that can do builds for Mac OS 10.6 and WinXP).

I see. Rest In Peace, Hard drive...
