is there a image to RLE converter?

I am looking for one, but I am unsucsessful. I need a piece of software that can take an image (preferably BMP) and turn it into an RLE string.

Golly can open a .bmp file. All non-white pixels will be treated as live cells. Then just select the result and copy it to the clipboard. You could write a simple Perl/Python script to automate those steps.

Life32 can perform the same feat, only it has a more lenient threshold between on and off.
What do you do with ill crystallographers? Take them to the mono-clinic!
