Does anyone know who ran the Game of Life Color Exhibition?

Post by TheoSwartz » March 11th, 2016, 4:18 pm

The Game of Life Color Exhibition was a pretty big website I found a long time ago which contained built in applets for displaying a number of complicated GOL patterns. They were color coded by generation and the color palettes changed every time you refreshed, it was pretty neat. I wondered if anyone on this forum knows who ran this site?

(Yes, it's down now)

The internet archive has a snapshot of the website, which includes a name and contact options.

I wouldn't try using an email address from that end of the Wayback Machine, though. The address is different from the one given in the 2015 snapshot --and there's even a phone number given in the 2002 snapshot! The Internet was definitely a different place back then... that was even pre-Gmail, wasn't it?

EDIT: I spent a little time back in 2007-2009 digging through the CGOLVE pattern collection. I don't remember that I did anything very useful, but I do seem to have a couple of files containing patterns -- cgolvepc.js and cgolvepcadditions.js, total almost 600KB. Looks like that was from what might have been the last major round of updates to the CGOLVE site -- at least I don't remember a later one. Can those files be found in the Internet Archive?
