Herschel Duplicator

Post by knightlife » October 10th, 2009, 7:02 pm

Has anyoune made an elemental stable conduit that has one Herschel input and two Herschel outputs?

I don't know exactly what you mean by elemental, but a herschel duplicator is fairly easy to build. Start with any herschel conduit that emits a glider & feed that glider into a glider to herschel converter. But I assume you want something that is a bit more compact... :)

The simplest one found so far is this one:

x = 66, y = 87, rule = B3/S23

Thanks Calcyman, I like your duplicator. I rewrote the question several times and almost included "gliderless" in the question, but I know gliders are a very common byproduct of Herschel conduits in general and didn't want to exclude them. Something more compact that doesn't need a G-to-H converter would be nice, but it is difficult to find, I'm sure.

This reaction made me think about the Herschel duplicator:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 13, rule = B3/S23
3o$2bo$b3o8$3b2o$2b2o$4bo!
Obviously something better is needed, but two Herschels are created when a glider hits the initial Herschel.

Thanks Calcyman, I like your duplicator.
Just to clarify: I didn't make that duplicator -- it has been known for years.

Dave Greene made a nice one quite recently. The output is adjustable because it uses a (non-standard) transceiver:

Code: Select all

x = 147, y = 131, rule = LifeHistory
