What are your tools to find predecessors of a pattern?
Has anyone coded a predecessor finder for small patterns?

lifesrc/WLS/JLS is the standard tool, depending on your preferred platform. The links are all in the Game of Life Links thread, in the "Downloadable Computation and/or Search Software" section.

Here's a simple recent example of WLS in use.
