It only takes 1 glider to kill a blinker (not two like shown above), bringing the cost down to 12. Someone may be able to work some magic to eliminate another clean-up glider, but those are less redundant. But there's a bottleneck period that could probably be utilized to reduce the synthesis even more, at gens. 106/107 and gen. 114.
