Just search B3/S1-ce.

Well, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Golly can't run that rule in any algorithm.

Even then, both golly and apgmera work perfectly:

Code: Select all

It's a rule/symmetry combination: rule B3/S, with C1-symmetrical (i.e. a priori asymmetrical) soups.

For apgsearch, you probably want Aidan's apgsearch-2016-1-21-v0.54+0.21i.py. You'll also need wildmyron's isotropic-rule.py, which generates the necessary rule files -- this was necessary because past Golly didn't natively support non-totalistic rules, and today it's still necessary because apgsearch hasn't been adapted yet to use Golly's native support instead of custom rules.

For more, see the wiki.
it didn't work.
edit: also, this seems unnecessarily more complicated than one of you just searching the rule.

That kind of came off as rude, and I frankly, along with most of the Life community (can't speak for them though), just don't find that rule that interesting.

In order to get any traction, you must demonstrate common intricacies.

b2-akn3ai/s23-a4i please
Has a 8,6c/24 knightship, a p20, and other stuff. Only 1 odd period oscillator has showed up so that's something.

B3/S23 seems to me to be overrated. I would recommend something more like B34e5y7e/S23, B2i3-ck/S02-i3-ck or B3/S237e.

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 5, rule = B34e5y7e/S23
3o$o2bo$ob2o2$3b2o!

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 10, rule = B2i3-ck/S02-i3-ck
3bo$2bobo$bo3bo2$bobobo$2o3b2o3$b2o$b2o!

Code: Select all

x = 3, y = 4, rule = B3/S237e
bo$obo$obo$obo!
B37/S2-i34qy is a good choice too as it almost certainly will have the fame of the first non-totalistic rule with a caterpillar spaceship.

But who doesn't want sexy, shiny badges? You can only get most badges from Life.

Although, the idea (if highly unlikely) of a caterpillar in another rule (which, based on the simplicity of the reaction, may have a chance of occurring naturally, although possibly as a puffer) is intriguing...

Actually, the reason I only uploaded two hauls of B37/S2-i34qy, is because some soups are actually explosive, but barely. It's rare, though, and caught me by surprise. I can still try to upload some more hauls, I'll just have to monitor them.

Nice. And much faster to search than B3-r/S2-ckn3-cknqy4-acknqwy5-ejkq6c7-c and (especially) B34e5y7e/S23. ;) I'll let it run for a while.
