That's a nice creation, drc.
A 16c/342 (8c/171) rake which only shoots backward:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 47, rule = B3-j4c678/S34-r5i6ci78
b3o$2bobo$5o$2bobo$b3o38$b3o$2bobo$5o$2bobo$b3o!
It runs in the opposite direction.
Interaction between 2 of the p634 guns in another way generates 2 extra pairs of gliders:

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 49, rule = B3-j4c678/S34-r5i6ci78
b3o$2bobo$5o$2bobo$b3o40$b3o$2bobo$5o$2bobo$b3o!
EDIT:
p192 oscillator

Code: Select all

x = 86, y = 20, rule = B3-j4c678/S34-r5i6ci78

Interesting! That even looks like a possible core reaction for a HBK-esque (5,7)c/whatever knightship.

Well, it's a start:

Code: Select all

x = 32, y = 85, rule = B37/S2-i34qy
29b3o$30bo$3o$bo19$23b3o2$6b3o14bobo$24bo$6bobo$7bo16b2o$24b2o$6b2o$6b
2o24$24b2o$24b2o$6b2o$6b2o24$24b2o$24b2o$6b2o$6b2o!
I'm sure the arithmetic behind track movement can be gone through to produce rephasings that work (although it appears they'll be very expensive) so the biggest problem is going to be a front end.

This ship, dubbed the Serval in the "unrecognized CA" thread, can be reflected by many still lifes, one of which even generates another ship going the opposite way. Is there any way to make these into loops or oscillators?

Incredible 13c/512 diagonal!, I was lucky to see this thing come out of random soup, it is one of the weirdest ships that I have ever seen:

Code: Select all

x = 26, y = 27, rule = B2-ac3-jnqr5y67e8/S1c23-akny4

I manage the 5S project, which collects all known spaceship speeds in Isotropic Non-totalistic rules. I also wrote EPE, a tool for searching in the INT rulespace.

Things to work on:
- Find (7,1)c/8 and 9c/10 ships in non-B0 INT.
- EPE improvements.

Code: Select all

Some One Time Reflectors and other interactions
High period oscillators and guns are generally made out of interactions where the still life or small oscillator is restored after interaction with the glider. In some very lucky cases you may have a pair of interactions which alternate between two small objects, restoring the first object after the second interaction. A search for interactions of this kind in CGoL was conducted by Gabriel Nivasch using sngdetect (stable and Glider), which was unsuccessful - though the half-baked knightship is based on a single interaction of this sort, where the SL is unchanged but moved. There is some other discussion of this idea on the forum - search for "fluff relays".

Edit:

Here's an unstablised wickstrecther with surprising behaviour:

Code: Select all

x = 8, y = 71, rule = B2ac3n/S

The 5S project (Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds) is now maintained by AforAmpere. The latest collection is hosted on GitHub and contains well over 1,000,000 spaceships.

Semi-active here - recovering from a severe case of LWTDS.

I used to have an idea where there was a structure (in Life) with a hole where gliders would enter a gloder loop and if it's full then the hole will be closed with an eater. If you wanted to get the gliders out all you have to do is strike a "button" with another glider and then one of the reflectors will get destroyed and the gliders will come out into a hiesenburp that goes into a glider filter which filters all but one of the gliders which it uses to reconstruct the broken reflector and block.

The counterfeit glider IS a glider, marked by pathological leakover(This is the border between working and not working) into other rules. You see how it is deformed, like a tree at the timberline.
