They do, but they're too far apart to be noticeable really. :P

It's nice to know that this thread is still alive.

Probably need some 3G-collisions script.

That's almost a solution for my last spark-synthesis puzzle. Check gen25 and the extra dot doesn't affect the spark.

No, actually -- it's done by hand. Although such a script is a good idea.

Is this some sort of TaE, or did you find the reaction in Catagolue?

Yes, it's trial and error. I don't bother with hunting through Catagolue soups (at least not yet), and I've found that with symmetrical reactions if you throw your knife enough times, you're bound to hit something.
EDIT: Also, this rule is one of those rules that has a weird synthesis-related property: if you have something that looks vaguely like something you want to synthesize and you throw a lot of gliders at it, it has a good chance of stabilizing into that object. These two methods are how I find my synths in this rule.

Whew. That's good. (Hunting through Catagolue soups don't give satisfiying results sometimes, most of the time, it just magically appeared from a random cloud)

I've finally come around to synthesizing that diagonal ship I was talking about upwards of a year ago:

Code: Select all

x = 53, y = 17, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a
40bo$38bobo$50bo$24b2o18b2o5b2o3$24bo19bo$6bo17bo19bo$2o4bobo$2bo43b2o
2$24b2o$26bo2$29bo$28bo$28bo!
Six gliders is all. The soups, in the end, turned out to be entirely useless in the face of good old incremental steps.

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 9, rule = B3-jqr/S01c2-in3
3bo$4bo$o2bo$2o2$2o$o2bo$4bo$3bo!

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 5, rule = B3/S2-i3-y4i

5G of an 8-cell inducting SL (xs8_22r22):

I also found a solution to xs8_44r44 which was doable in about 8-10G, but have since lost it.

The rule's smallest c/2o ship in 11G:

Congrats!
Thanks, but it doesn't match what Goldtiger does in Life, particularly because you can just naively smash gliders together in this rule to get what you want.

EDIT: xp10_l0lz2 in 2G + xp6_l0l:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 15, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a

There is another distinct p10 oscillator, xp10_405010l0l, in this rule, which is indeed a potent sparker:

Code: Select all

xs9_44ll4 synthesized in 4G:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 8, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a
9bo$10b2o3$14bo$5bo7bo$2bo2bo7bo$2o4bo!
This also solves xs8_4ll4 in 5G:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 7, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a
7bo$7bo$b2o5bo2$5o2$b2o!
And xs9_g0s522z1 in 6G:

Code: Select all

x = 14, y = 9, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a

EDIT: Weird component when playing around with the last still life gives another still life in 7G:

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 6, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a
3bo$4b2o$2b2o$2bo5bo$obo4bo$o6bo!
EDIT: Another interesting component that solves xs8_16q44 and xs12_16q44a44 in 5G:

Code: Select all

p4 2c/4 spaceship found with rlifesrc:

Code: Select all

x = 29, y = 34, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a

2$16b3o$17bo!
Sorry if it is known. I don't know how to reduce it. Rlifesrc can't find even a c/3 spaceship in this rule. I'm still going to search though.
Edit:
That was the cropped version of the spaceship. I thought the rest was p2, but I didn't notice that it had a p4 backend. Here is the whole spaceship:

Code: Select all

x = 32, y = 81, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a

Nice find! That is indeed the first known 2c/4 orthogonal in the rule. The second p4 tagalong can be attached to the same backend as the first p4 tagalong:

Code: Select all

x = 51, y = 18, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a
bo4bo23bo4bo$obo2bobo21bobo2bobo$2b4ob2o22b4ob2o$2bo2bobob3o19bo2bobob
3o$7bobobo24bobobo$6b2o3bo23b2o3bo$9b2o27b2o$5b2obobob3o19b2obobob3o$
4bobo3bobobo18bobo3bobobo$3bo2bo3bobo19bo2bo3bobo$2b2o2b2o23b2o2b2o$
11bo26b2o$3bo2bo4bo20bo2bo3b6o$10bobo27bobob2o2b3o$10b3o28bo3bo2bobo$
40bobo2bo2bo$10b3o$11bo26b2o!
As for your comment that rlifesrc can't find a c/3 orthogonal ship, the output from the program on my end suggests that c/3 orthogonal is impossible.

Also, here's a 6G of xs8_220f06:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 24, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a
13bo$3bo$bobo9b2o3$7bo$8b2o4$7bo$7bo$2o6bo2$bo6$2b2o2$3bo!
This also gives xs8_220f044 and the not-yet-natural xs8_220f022 syntheses in 8G:

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 14, rule = B2ce3-ajnr/S12-ak3-a
2bo13bo$2bo13bo2$b4o9b4o2$2b2o11b2o4$7bo12bo$6bo12bo$o5bo6bo5bo$bo12bo
$bo12bo!

Code: Select all

x = 5, y = 9, rule = B3-jqr/S01c2-in3
3bo$4bo$o2bo$2o2$2o$o2bo$4bo$3bo!

Code: Select all

x = 7, y = 5, rule = B3/S2-i3-y4i
4b3o$6bo$o3b3o$2o$bo!
