#2 and #3 don't really create reachable objects, but #1 seems useful because the boat is at the edge of the reaction envelope. It's barely too close to the fishhook for use as a one-time-turner, but otherwise quite nice.

Don't think so, except for composite mechanisms that build an eater with two gliders.

There's a p6 Herschel conduit with a transient eater in it -- Fx177p6 -- which could be converted to a not-terribly-useful H-to-eater, but I'm not sure there's a stable equivalent:

This is an old conduit which is a glider-to-boat converter. Unfortunately it has an eater which interferes with its use as a switch in the manner similar to the demultiplexer.

If the troublesome eater is removed then the conduit still produces a boat, but also leaves a block. So I used a glider from an earlier conduit to delete the block.

The result is a glider-to-boat converter which has 26 transparent lanes, compared to the 9 lanes for the demultiplexer.

This converter could find use in sliding block memory logic. It allows the use of many types of salvos since there are lots of paths available for the returning gliders.

Can anyone make a smaller version of this, maybe using different conduits or moving the snarks closer with a nice weld?

There's a pair of eaters that can be welded together closely. Also changing a snake into an eater gives an extra two lanes of clearance:

Come to think of it, the size can be reduced a bit more by using an Fx77 instead of an F117 for the first Herschel-conduit extension, which lets the trombone-slide Snarks move five cells closer to the circuit and improves the repeat time by 40 ticks:

Thinking a little further outside the box -- or rather, throwing away the box entirely and replacing it with a handbasket -- here's a somewhat larger demultiplexer with adjustable width, and also adjustable placement of the boat turner.

As shown below the circuit has 55 transparent lanes. To adjust the width in two-lane increments, move the southeast part of the circuit southeast (to increase the width) or northwest (to decrease it).

The boat is currently on the SEmost of the transparent lanes. To move the boat N cells (2N lanes) northwest, move the two Snarks in the northwest away from the circuit by N cells.

There might be an Oe2 splitter available that's a little smaller and/or can connect directly to the syringe without an intermediate R64, if anyone wants to have a look.

Any of the Oe2s is guaranteed to swap in cleanly for the one I used, unless you rotate or reflect the H-to-2G... otherwise you might need an Eo2 instead. Or, to put it another way, a rotated or reflected Eo2 splitter might work and have better geometry.

So the synchronization problem is a little bit complicated -- but only half as bad as the Oo1/Ee1/Oe3/Eo3 group (!). I hope someday somebody comes up with a splitter rating system that's a little less awkwardnessful.

It looks like a periodic conduit, but it's actually not, as far as circuitry is concerned. The p6 pipsquirter deletes an Annoying Beehive, but it works the same way regardless of relative timing. At worst, it takes 5 ticks longer to clean it up.

Well, I guess Kazyan 'tight-turning HRxH' is in fact a decent hive factory, it seems it can be also used for starting a new track.

I remember seeing some somewhere.

Why is it so difficult to find elementary E conduits?
It just seems like there are a few nice reactions involving Es, but all seem to have some flaw—This one would be an elementary E->G if there was a way to catalyse the loaf so that it isn’t destroyed, but it’s not in a very good place in the reaction envelope, and I’m not naïve enough to assume there’s a way to restore it that way.
