Spartan H-to-MWSS

Post by calcyman » August 23rd, 2013, 2:43 pm

I've made a Spartan H-to-MWSS converter, which contains a nice void for accommodating seeds of destruction:

Code: Select all

On the other side, I would like to use Matthias' MWSS-to-G converter. Does anyone have a synthesis for this 14-bit still life or (even better) a Blockic seed?

I remember somebody (I think it was Sokwe) posted a synthesis of a variant elsewhere. I'll see if I can find it.

EDIT: No, it was knightlife who posted this:

Code: Select all

x = 115, y = 60, rule = B3/S23
112bo$100bobo8bo$100b2o9b3o$101bo25$2bo$o3bo$5bo$o4bo$b5o8$56b2o$57b2o
$56bo2$110bo$100b3o6b2o$100bo8bobo$101bo7$112b2o$112bobo$112bo$61b3o$
63bo$62bo!
The MWSS is not involved in the synthesis. What we need to get is this:

Code: Select all

x = 15, y = 8, rule = B3/S23
2o$b2obobo$o3b2o$5bo7b2o$14bo$4b3o4b3o$4bo6bo$5bo!

That synthesis works for the MWSS-to-glider and pi-to-r converters but not for F116 unfortunately.

Oh, so that's what the context was. I see. I'll see what I can find.

EDIT: One extra glider does it:

Code: Select all

x = 21, y = 10, rule = LifeHistory
A$.2A$2A4.2A$7.2A.A.A$6.A3.2A$11.A7.2A$20.A$10.3A4.3A$10.A6.A$11.A!
This is already known.

The tub-with-tail variant is fine, since I only require the MWSS-to-G rather than the F116. Anyway, I think that there's a recipe on pentadecathlon.com for replacing the tub-with-tail with a fishhook.

Right two gliders synchronized:

$92.2A3$104.2A16.2A$92.2A10.2A15.2A$92.2A29.A44$.A$.2A$A.A!
Or does the eater need to be blockicized as well?

EDIT: Full synchronization:

The four pieces can be moved diagonally, as long as the final result remains a rectangle. For example, the minimal size for this arrangement:

That's perfect, thank you. I just needed `slow glider-pair constructible in all eight orientations', which is certainly the case for your Blockic + eater seed. And it's also trivial to add the final block afterwards, by use of slow block-pulling reactions.

(I now need to transfer synthesise-pattern2.py to my laptop, and neaten it up somewhat.)

By the way, the snake would work too. I don't know though if it is easier to build it with the SUCC than the eater.

Code: Select all

x = 17, y = 10, rule = B3/S23

Eaters are easier since I already have the recipes from the Gemini.

(The original SUCC is horribly inelegant and cumbersome; I'm redesigning a replicator-metacell without an embedded universal computer.)

Yes, I wondered if you were plotting something like that... Seems like there might be a smaller Spartan H-to-MWSS; certainly there's one with a shorter recovery time.

I'll probably do a few quick Hersrch searches when I get a moment. Are there any design details I'd need to know about to build something useful?

Here's a Spartan H-to-MWSS with about the same size and bounding box, but it recovers in 664 ticks instead of 1450+:
