The 10 nine-bit still-lifes

9-bit still-lifes

9.1; Very long boat [3] 9.2; Extra long snake [6] 9.3; Long canoe; Long sinking ship [4] 9.4; Integral; Integral sign [4] 9.5; Up boat w/ tail; Trans- boat w/ tail [4] 9.6; Down boat w/ tail; Cis- boat w/ tail [4] 9.7; Long shil- lelagh [5] 9.8; Long hook w/ tail [5] 9.9; Tub w/ long tail; Shil- lelagh w/ tub [4] 9.10; Hat [3]

The 1 nine-bit pseudo-still-life

9b PS

Block on boat [3]

The 1 nine-bit period 2 oscillator

9b P2

Tripole [7]

The 1 nine-bit spaceship

9b SS

Light-weight spaceship; LWSS; Small fish [3]

The LWSS has a period of 4 and an orthogonal velocity of c/2. It moves one cell up and flips from side to side every two generations, effectively moving two cells up every 4 generations. It is one of the few common spaceship in Life, and is used in some syntheses.

2 easily-constructible nine-bit constellations

9b constellations

3/4 traffic light [3] Block and glider (via Wing) [3]

2 nine-bit methuselahs

9-bit methuselah
