Re: Live Free or Die
Hi all, I'm the mysterious Luke Bradford who hasn't visited this thread since 2016, the creator of the original Live Free or Die Universe website and later Live Free or Die wiki on Wikispaces. I first became interested in Live Free or Die in 2006, when I was 16, and it developed into an on-again, of...

Re: B2/S0 new glider
Hi Nasvadi, I'm the creator of the LFoD wiki, and I haven't credited any patterns there that I found myself. As it turns out, many of those patterns were well known long before I found and named them. I didn't know about David Eppstein's glider database in those days. Maybe I'll go through sometime ...

Re: B2/S0 (Live Free or Die) p20 Oscillator
It does look familiar... p20, you say?!
Yes, that's the p19 monster.
Fun fact, here's a very similar p17 oscillator in b26/s0:

Hey Daniel,
The pattern on the left explodes and the one on the right is a dual infinite anchor track.

Re: Dotlife(B3/S023)
I like this rule a lot, especially because after you've watched it for a while, you'll notice that the same sort of B-heptomino growth patterns occur in Life, they just die a lot faster.

Non-monotonic spaceships
Non-monotonic spaceships in Life include the 13-engine Cordership , non-monotonic spaceship 1 , 233P3H1V0 , and the weekender . Anybody have some cool examples in other rules? In Live Free or Die, there are several p10 and p5 c/5 non-monotonic spaceships with the same front-end mechanism, the decad...

Live Free or Die has a wide variety of c spaceships. Here's one with a minimum population of 126 cells, the tricycle ship: x = 37, y = 26, rule = s0/b2 24bo$23b2obo$17bo9bo$16bobo5bo4bo$16bo2bo7bobo$o8bo6bo4bo2bobo$bo18bob o2bob2o$bo7bo4bobo8bo4bo$o10bobobobo7bo3bobo$14bo7bo2bo3bo2bo$5bo19bo 7bo$bo2...

Re: Live Free or Die
Extremely cool stuff. Glad to see p2 getting some more coverage.
We now have a p2 rake, the flicker rake, but I've been curious for some time if we could find a p2 puffer, if such a thing is possible. It would have to produce some kind of wick because p2 is just too dense for a trail of oscillators.

Re: Live Free or Die
Very cool stuff. glider_rider, your p2 rake is the first-ever p2 puffer. These are the days of miracle and wonder. I have definitely seen a rake-and-bake puffer emerge from chaos - that's how I found it. In those primitive times, it was shocking to see anything climb out of the soup that wasn't p4 o...

Very cool! Congratulations on the first ever breeder in this rule!
(Not counting chaos, of course, which "breeds" in its own unpleasant way.)

Re: Live Free or Die
Nice work! Glad to see some relatively uncharted periods being filled out. Your p9 puffer is the only known p9 object other than the arrow puffer, and your p10 puffers are the only known p10 objects other than the decade ship, which makes them the only p10 puffers and the only p10 craft that travel ...

Re: Game-of-Life-related Secret project leaked - GOL-SSRP
Doesn't sound like you got your $3000 worth, then. LOL! I live in Cambridge and can confirm I overheard some sneaky-looking MIT types in lab coats in a local coffee shop discussing glider syntheses. The conversation rapidly turned to their efforts to locate the Loch Ness monster, who has apparently...

Re: Live Free or Die
I have added the p5 oscillator ( crossroads ) and the short free ship rake ( freedom collider .) I've also updated the unicorn ship page because glider_rider's recent 78-cell ship is now the smallest example. I'm still looking for/thinking of names for glider_rider's c/2 backrake, slanted ship tagal...

Re: Golly puffer?
That isn't a puffer but a collection of guns that create an image formed from a collection of LWSSs traveling together, in this case a Golly logo. It's included with the Golly application as Patterns/Life/Guns/golly-ticker.rle.

Re: Methusynthesae
Hi Gustavo, I'll refrain from commenting on the notability of this pattern, which others have already covered. Just thought I should point out that the plural of 'synthesis' is 'syntheses' (because it's from Greek) so I'd expect the plural of 'methusynthesis' to be 'methusyntheses,' not 'methusynthe...

Re: Live Free or Die
Wow, some great stuff in here!
That short free ship rake is remarkable. Apart from flotillas, that's the first rake that emits anything other than moons.
I'll add these discoveries to the wiki over the next few days. As always, let me know if you want to name them.
