I'm being nitpicky but the definition of 'life-like CA' entails that it is in the Moore neighborhood and totalistic.

It'd be cool to have a turing-machine rule generator script that allows you to see the evolution of the turing machine with the up-down direction being the time axis, as in normal Golly simulation of W110 or something.

Make sure you're using the right rule - when I first posted it, I accidentally posted the incorrect rule table. Yours is really cool too, but the reason I made mine was to make it visual once completed. It looks like it works in basically the same way, which is pretty cool.

It looks much more difficult to work with than WireWorld, given the exorbitant number of states, but I think I'll try my hand at a Life metacell for you.
