Re: Computer Ideas
Its possible to make a Nand-Gate is Life. So you can build any combinatorial circuit you want. How about building a encoder that receives 8 glider streams as an input and has 3 glider as an output (the gliders are now coded binary and not unary). Then an decoder coverts the 3 gliders streams into 8 ...

This p4 oszillators is very small, but not in the wiki. I am sure that somebody knows its name.

Re: New Period 3 Billiard table discovered
The program essentially grows patterns like crystals that must obey certain rules, fixing the structure in the center, and experimenting with the edges, and fixing them later as the edges expand. The next smallest ones currently known are 18 bits (pseudo-object - LWSS on LWSS), so unless you have a...

Re: New Period 3 Billiard table discovered
OK, I looked up in Dean Hickerson's collecton and found my oscillators, but not the 9x9 Smiley. As you wrote a programm, did it use simple brute force on a given area or can it use a sort of backtracking , which also finds all solutions, but much faster. By the way i wrote a simple still life finder...

Re: New Period 3 Billiard table discovered
Of course here is the C-Code for the programm. Its in German. The main idea is that you first create the surrounding. Then it uses brute force and tries every possible configuration of cells inside the box except the 4 corners which must always be dead cells. Then it calculates the next 10 Positions...

Re: Glider Guns of large periods
Great work!
Can you also make a "Gliderfilter" with does not destroy 1 of 2 gliders, but 2 of 3 or any other prime number. This would be cool to create glider-guns with any period

New Period 3 Billiard table discovered
Hello, I wrote i search programm for Billiard tables and i found this 3 period patter: x = 14, y = 14, rule = B3/S23:P60,60 6b2o$6b2o2$4b6o$3bo6bo$3b2o2b2obo$2obo4bobob2o$2obo2bobobob2o$4b6o2$4b 8o$4bo6bo$7b2o$7b2o! I post it because I didn't find this patter in the WIKI. What do you think about it?...
