Re: Games in CA

I did not misunderstood anything. He wants to make games in cellular automata. Not a golden idea, since CA are science and ONLY science for me. Also, this must be in the Sandbox forum, since this no way belongs to the Other Cellular Automata forum. I hope that moderators will remove it. Have a good da...

Re: Catagolue Discussion Thread

Possibly a really stupid question, but... I've run a bunch of soups in b3s23 with symmetry D4+_4 and the hauls are disappearing from the 'uncommitted hauls' list but aren't appearing in the committed hauls list. Anyone know what's happening to 'em? EDIT: doesn't matter, I've figured it out, I think....

Re: apgsearch v5.0

In case anyone is interested, I did manage to find a way to show show the 'Rare oscillator/ship detected:' lines in the apgluxe output for other rules, it was just a case of manually altering the code in searcher.h and recompiling. It is a 'per rule' kinda deal though, easy enough to do for somethin...

Impressive! Is that using the Kadon sets?
This one was just done with sets I'd made myself - I had cut the heptominoes way back in high school, so I had to ensure that the other sets I made more recently were size compatible. I've got some polyhexes and octiamonds from Kadon though.

Re: Polyominoes

I built another rectangle I haven't seen anywhere before, again using one of each of the heptominoes: a 20x38 with 4 holes (placed symmetrically). 20x38.png This ended up taking an entire evening of playing around with my little homemade heptomino set. I had attempted this rectangle ages ago, and ha...

Polyominoes

Anyone else on here have an interest in polyominoes or other polyforms (outside of a cellular-automata context, I suppose)? I've been playing on with various sets a fair bit recently, pentominoes and hexominoes mainly, just constructing (or attempting to construct) rectangles and other shapes with t...

Some of the oscillator list pages for 2x2 symmetries are not sorting the objects by number of occurrences, e.g. https://catagolue.appspot.com/census/b36s125/D8_4/xp4

Re: Things You've Been Doing Other Than CGoL

Right now I'm trying to wrap my head around composing in the 5/4 time signature. I've written a song in the 7/4 time signature. 'song'. It was a birthday gift for my friendo a little while ago. Sort of related, I made this song a few years ago that starts off in an odd time signature, I'm not sure ...

Nice to see some other cubers on here! I've been solving on and off since about 2007 or so, but I focused more on spending obscene amounts of money collecting some of the weirder shaped puzzles, and less time trying to get my solve times down. I average about 30-35 seconds on 3x3x3, but I have done ...

Wasn't sure whether to post this in Useless Discoveries or here, but it is an APGsearch thing after all.
