Re: Pattern viewer for forum threads

Since it's not clear as to when it'll stop without prior knowledge: can Identify be made to show a progress bar (similar to the T button with scripts) that fills up to 1048576, or alternatively/additionally specify "nothing found after 1048576 generations" after such a failed attempt? And could the ...

Re: HTML/JS HELP NEEDED: Isotropic non-totalistic rulestring generator

v0.0.11 is now live: - rulestring generation should now always produce the canonical form - a link to Catagolue is also generated alongside the rulestring - detection of the presence of transitions is now more efficient Again, don't think I've implemented any of this optimally. Keep in mind that thi...

Re: HTML/JS HELP NEEDED: Isotropic non-totalistic rulestring generator

I've updated this to v0.0.3 and rulestrings are now added to a text box rather than displayed directly on the page horribly. The code to do it is still a mess, though, and I welcome advice from anyone who actually knows what they're doing.

HTML/JS HELP NEEDED: Isotropic non-totalistic rulestring generator

Since I've decided it's probably time to start giving back to the community rather than constantly demanding from it, here's a disgustingly rudimentary rulestring generator for the common INT rulespace: https://muzikbike.github.io/projects/ca/rulegen/isonontot-moore.html This was mainly done as a pr...

Re: Golly 1.3 for iPad

A couple other things I'd like to mention: - The nothing loading issue for rules also appears to happen for pattern files. - Could the text box used for defining the rule be changed to another type of text box which autocorrect cannot interact with? On countless occasions I've had transitions and ru...

Defining coordinates and directions on hexagonal/triangular grids

Awful Introduction Section that you can probably skip The majority of cellular automata explored today take place on the square grid {4,4}. Without a doubt due to its ease to draw and picture, it was used for the founding rules which went on to shape the modern cellular automata community. More rec...

Re: Pattern viewer for forum threads

While rotations and mod calculation and such for hex and triangular grids are nowhere near priority at this point, implementing direction calculation for Identify should be a pretty simple task. Here's a relatively in-depth examination of how directions can be defined for said grids (which should al...

Most of that is pretty much undefined since I'm currently only interested in simulating single diagonal line oscillators, and I only define those which are integral to the functioning of those. Okay then. How do you decide the important ones? If the absence of the transition would result in diagona...

Change the main page to a LifeViewer embed/relocate News

Partly as a convenience thing, and partly as a throwback to the earlier days of the site when browsers still supported Java. My idea here would be to convert the main conwaylife.com page to be a large embed of LifeViewer, much larger than the default popup windows and embeds usually seen in forum po...

Add a link to Catagolue in the top bar

The Home/LifeWiki/Forums/Download Golly bar to be specific.

Given that it sees very heavy use by the conwaylife.com populace and it being a honorary replacement for our very own TOLLCASS I'd say a link there is deserved.

Here's another example of a long-standing bug that affects the viewer. Discussion over in the discord reveals that there are others who ...
