Also, you can still post RLEs that people can paste into Golly, even though LifeViewer can't run them. This should be posted in Other Cellular Automata anyway.
Ok, i'll move it there.

2c12 Spaceship in langtons ant

Alright, so i don't know how to express an interactive pattern viewer with the langons ant rule, so i'll just describe it. The 2c12 spaceship can be made by making a 2 by 2 block of ants. I know. Shocking how simple it is.

This really bothers me

This is something that has been bothering me for a long time. Some patterns show variations of different speeds or types of ships or wicks or something, and they usually put numbers or text to show information, which is fine, BUT... when you run the pattern you can see: x = 99, y = 37, rule = B3_S23...

Re: Meta-meta-blinker

Attached is a blinker made of copies of Brice Due's OTCA-metapixel, which are themselves made of OTCA-metapixels. Consequently, the period of this pattern is 2496135168; Golly can run an entire period over the course of a day at a step size of 8^5. I tried doing this with the 'metafier' script and ...

Sorry for relatively late reply, but is there a way I could learn it in a nutshell or something? Some way that I at least know what the most important states are or something? :|

While messing around with the signal, I made this happen: #CXRLE Pos=0,0 x = 63, y = 13, rule = B3/S23 bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo$b61o2$b 61o$o2bo58bo$b2o4b55o$4bo53bo$b55o4b2o$o58bo2bo$b61o2$b61o$bo2bo2bo2bo 2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo2bo! Lightspeed wire

So, while clicking around on Lifewiki, I found a page called "Lightspeed wire". Then I began to read, and something caught my eye: "A lightspeed wire would be a wick which burns nondestructively at the speed of light..." Would be? I found it to be odd, articles like this don't usually word things li...

Re: Perrier

Thank you for the information, but there is a little problem. I have no idea what most of the states' purposes are, or what they do! Having a guide of sorts on what the states do, even if it is complicated, would be a great help! (Also, sorry if i sound relatively stupid when compared to others in t...

I'm pretty sure you've heard of this rule. The 64-state rule which has little "signals" running through "tubes" (That's what i call them at least), kinda like Codd, but it has a bunch of other stuff, and with 63 states, (Excluding 0) it has so much potential! I think that this rule is extremely inte...

Re: Purpose of spaceships and how to build them?

2. What's even the purpose of spaceships that big? Gotta catch em all. I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, putting together a big self-supporting moving pattern is kind of like doing a crossword puzzle. Except it's a crossword puzzle that nobody knows the answer to until someone finishes it ...

Purpose of spaceships and how to build them?

I've been wondering these two things since i first learned about Conway's Game of Life:
1. How do you build spaceships? Take for example, the caterpillar, how do you build things like that?!?
2. What's even the purpose of spaceships that big?
This may sound stupid, but I really want to know!

1. I'm having trouble with the giffy script. I copy and paste it into a text file, and put it in the scripts folder, but i don't have any clue what to do from there, as i don't know how to change it from a .txt file to a .py file! 2. Even if i did, the other .py scripts don't work (at least on my co...

Tried that too, but the site said the image was too many KiB big.

Re: Avatar creator

That would be very nice and convenient, actually. BUT, You can resize gifs online, and we have the giffer script. The lifeviewer used to have a gif making option but they removed it for some reason 1. Thank you for telling me about giffer :) 2. I tried resizing the loafer, but it looked like this: ...

Avatar creator

Hello. I've just started using this site, and I have a suggestion. Many users have life patterns like the one shown below as avatars: http://www.conwaylife.com/w/images/8/80/Loafer.gif Fun fact: I wanted to use that loafer gif myself, but it was too big. So, why not have a feature where users can in...
