Re: seeking small stable LW->G 135 degree

You could pair a snark with a 45 degree LWSS ->G, as you mentioned, so presumably that's not small enough. I feel there was one on the wiki but I'm not sure where :( It's in the Life Lexicon! .........O.OO....O..... .........OO.O...O.O.... ................O.O.... .......OOOOO...OO.OOO.. ......O..O....

B13/S1|B46/S345 is nice. How do one explore this with Golly though?

EDIT: B13/S|B46/S34 have a sparky oscillator.

Re: Thread for basic questions

I'm mainly searching with gfind, which uses diagonal width rather than orthogonal width that LeapLife Spaceship Search Status uses. Are there any programs using orthogonal width? Like, a nt modification of knight2? BTW, what does "Searching for speed c/7, width 7, glide-reflect symmetry." in gfind m...

b03s23 is pretty boring: x = 3, y = 3, rule = B03/S23 2o$o$2bo! I investigated that in the Guokr days. No luck, only some p2/p4 oscillators. b2i3s23 is really nice, with a large p20 arising from the hf and an interesting lengthening xwss, unfortunately explosive x = 17, y = 23, rule = B2i3/S23 5b2o...

How did they find Hertz in 1970 ? There's absolutely no available search programs at that time. Manual experimentation. Just make an O shape with a 3x4 inside, place a dot inside it in the right spot, and stabilize the edges as you would normally and voila, Hertz oscillator. Huh. I wonder what will...
