Weird bug with "What links here": https://www.conwaylife.com/wiki/User:Ian07 Try selecting various namespace options; it seems almost random which pages are removed from the list and which are kept. For example, selecting main namespace results in some , but not all of the non-article pages being re...

Re: LifeWiki Trusted Account Request Thread - Post requests here

hello, may i have a trusted account? my wiki name begins with the (amount of cells in the first discovered spaceship in the rule B3/S23-4)th letter of the creator of said rules middle name. the second letter is the (heat of a well known B3/S23 spaceship-2)th to last letter of said spaceship. the re...

Not entirely sure, but this one might also be invalid since the numbers need to have two digits (i.e. #01 instead of #1)

Re: Script request thread

Is there a version of Giffer out there that produces PNGs instead of GIFs? I tried just changing the file name to .png, and it worked surprisingly well... until I tried to upload the images to the wiki, which rejected them due to a discrepancy between the file extension and the actual MIME file type.

What tool is suitable for checking soups quickly, by the way? I've been using lifelib to display all soups for a given object. Particularly I hacked together this code a while ago: samples = lt.download_samples('b3s23','xp30_w33z8kqrqk8zzzx33') collisions = lt.pattern("") shift = 0 for sample in sa...

@Ian07, is there any new 4G synthesis in b3s23/4Glider_stdin? There're 147 billion objects.
(The same question may be asked again sometime later)
I'll probably take another look once you're finished searching to avoid further re-duplicating the work for myself. (that is you, right?)

It is in my user page.
(To be more specific, it's this)

Don't know how to make a synthesis from the reaction you showed; it doesn't have a 3G, and even the weird object at the top doesn't have a 3G either.

For 14-bit, just octapole and xp2_4l1148kgzx302. For 15-bit, I don't know about oscillators but there are at most 24 15-bit still lifes missing.

It's by no means a comprehensive tutorial, but this section of the glider synthesis tutorial on the wiki teaches the basics.

There's a 32G synthesis of cross 2.
And symmetrical synapse is doable in 8 by replacing the block by a glider (submitted to catagolue).
Both done.

Re: 4 glider syntheses

Seems to work for me but turned up no results for chopin, schumann or stravinsky, so it seems they'll have to go unsynthesized for now: RLE Since it looks like you got Python scripts to work, I'd suggest getting this apgcode script by biggiemac so you can check these yourself. 4G Chopin : x = 19, y...

What happens if it is submitted to catagolue synthesis?
Catagolue will most likely just reject it as invalid, since it's not designed to accept linear growth syntheses. The ones that are there (example) were added to the database manually by calcyman.

Re: Oscillator Discussion Thread

It has a few weak sparks, so it will probably give some smaller LCM oscillators, although I'm not sure if it will be useful beyond that. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to reduce any other low periods using this, as the spark is too close to avoid destroying the oscillator. p240 can be easily done usi...

Those are impossible (if not in StateInvestigator), since the two red cells need to be suppressed. If you suppress one with a pre-block, the blue cells will turn on. If you suppress one of the red cells (while keeping the blue suppressed), the other red cell can still turn on. If you suppress all f...
