I don't have Golly installed, but I have copies of Python 3.8.5, 3.8.6 and 3.9.0 lying around.
My scripts target Python 3; I'm not that concerned with the minor version.

Wow, I'm dumb. Turns out I was trying to run 64-bit Python on 32-bit Golly! When I ran a script in Golly 3.0 (64-bit), it worked perfectly.
