A fun idea that has maybe been thought of before: The ability to mark a region on the grid and define a musical note or tone for that region. That note plays so long as a live cell is in that region. Any proof of work scheme will need to have variable difficulty. Searching for novel patterns would only increase in difficulty. Also, the proof of work would need to integrate a block hash with the pending transactions. So the only way I can think of to make something like this work would be to make...

Thanks. I don't imagine it's novel anyway, I just saw it when I scratched a diagonal line in golly so it's unthinkable that it hasn't been seen before. Wondered what it was called is all. No repetition so it's really only as good as drawing a bunch of gliders manually.
