Also, how might one submit synthesis to Catagolue?
Paste the RLE into the Nonmagical Box at the bottom of https://catagolue.hatsya.com/syntheses and then press the 'Post' button.

Re: Oscillator Discussion Thread

Upon realizing that a centinal can be rephased by removing the transient pair of blocks, I tried to construct a MWSS gun at periods 46+100n. It turns out that the timing for a chain of 3 Snarks+syringe+L156 on the left is off by 4 ticks, and so cannot be fixed by moving the trombone slide. How, the...

Re: Thread for basic questions

Well, unfortunately, the junk surrounding that dot spark does not back off quickly enough. To be more specific, I was trying to turn a particular block great-grandparent to a glider, and so diagonal clearance is imporant as well as orthogonal clearance. Generation 93 of that conduit gives another d...

What edgy H-to-spark conduits do we have? This seems like the sort of thing that should already exist, but is there a script that takes an object and pastes in all Catagolue soups that create that object? It sure would beat having to copy/paste tens or hundreds of soups every time I want to perform a detailed investigation into how a parti...

Note that the Goldtiger997 mechanism is only compatible with single 2c/3 signals, not double signals, so can't be used after an elbow.

Does anyone know how to use dr or Bellman or something to see if there's a catalyst that can accept that thumb spark?

Most notably, the maximum response size is now 32 MB (as opposed to 1 MB), allowing for Catagolue to store the entirety of xs21s and xs22s (maybe xs23s too) in b3s23/synthesis-costs without having to modify too much of the src. Slight clarification: the maximum response size has always been 32 MB, ...

Re: Reflectorless Rotating Oscillator Discussion Thread in Life

Here's a 7-fold version of the RRO -- period 41354700, base period 289482900. To get a period that was a multiple of 7, I reduced the gaps between recipes by two cells. Even that small change reduces the period by 4608 ticks. Thanks! I was able to copy your adjustment technique and, with the help o...

I made an RRO, which is quite similar to the recently constructed self-synthesising oblique-loopships . However, the RRO is not quite self-synthesising, though it would possible to make it so with some fairly small modifications. The following RRO has a period of 289487508: Wow!!! (Remind me to vot...

Re: Execution of Old Guns by Variable-Speed Firing Squad

I think this should reduce the bounding box of the p14 gun by another row and column (a few p6 pipsquirters need to be flipped around and Beluchenko's p7 needs to be replace with a pipsquirter in the upper right corner). I don't see how a reduction by two rows and columns would be possible without ...

I extended it into a conduit. A trivial observation is that this can be used in conjunction with AbhpzTa's high-clearance catalyst to allow the FNG to escape: x = 40, y = 82, rule = LifeHistory 13.2A.2A$14.A.A$9.2A.A5.A.2A$8.A.A.2A3.2A.A.A$7.A2.B2.BA.AB2.B2.A$7. 7AB.B7A$11.3B.B.3B$9.3AB.3B.B3A$8.A....

Apart from the block, does there exist any still-life where adding any cells to it never yields another still-life? If you mean "add cells that touch", there are many such still-lifes; e.g. there are many still-lifes that contain blocks (e.g. block on table). It's possible to add multiple additiona...
