Re: Spaceship Discussion Thread

Has anyone tried a symmetric 3c/11o search with the traffic light push frontend? (The wings are just an example as something that pushes correctly; they would need to be replaced with something that reforms.)

Code: Select all

x = 9, y = 9, rule = B3/S23

Re: Suggested LifeWiki edits

Should the new p560 be on the R-pentomino hasslers page or not? To me, it looks like a conduit, not a hassler.

Re: LCM oscillators above p500

The issue is not how much space it takes up but how much work has to be done to update the list.

If the list wasn't already as high as it was, I would cap it at 200.

Re: (cont.) Adding kinetic symmetry to infoboxes

I think static objects should have static symmetries, not kinetic symmetries.

Terms like "C2" are used in this community all the time even in casual conversation, while I don't even know myself what the kinetic symmetry letters stand for.

Re: Thread for basic questions

They should remain on the wiki. They're about specific statements on the article associated with the talk page that need to be clarified or checked for accuracy.

Several people check Recent Changes regularly, so it won't go unseen.

I added about 20 more snippets about a year ago, but the featured article algorithm is still limited to the number of weeks in the year, so they haven't been put in the rotation.

Re: Glider synthesis on LifeWiki

As for "undiscussed and unexplained", I don't know why you think that people should have to ask you for your personal opinion before making any kind of wiki edit. We've had this discussion many times already. There's no need to ask for approval, but if there's an objection, it should be reverted an...

Looking at the unused one letter names, why not "E" for e9jp as a temporary letter (if we decide to have it) for now as we find a suitable full name for it.
E is already the E-heptomino.

Re: Time to name the e9jp

Definitely not A. It doesn't deserve a one-letter name.

Millennium could work, but I wouldn't want it misspelled the way you have it in the OP, even if other objects have had their names come from typos. That said, I would prefer that name to be used for one that's much closer to 1000 generations.

From the glider synthesis page: The lower bound can be improved with a relaxing of the condition: no self-forcing patch exists within 8 × 8, so a still life would require at least 32 cells to contain one.
