CGOL minesweeper?

Someone should create an application that is Minesweeper except the mines must be a still life or constellation of still lifes. For example, this is solvable already (even if the number of mines isn't given), but only because it's such a small grid: x = 25, y = 19, rule = LifeHistory 25F$F5.F5.F5.F5...

Re: Nondeterministic rules ("Radiolife"?)

CGOL won't cause any interesting behavior here; it will decay to nothing. The most common cell decay that will not just turn to nothing or something less is the pond, which will become a honey farm if any cell is removed, but beehives can't turn into anything more. Long boats will turn into centurie...

Re: R-Pentomino Predecessor!

Interestingly, I don't recognize the immediate predecessors for the first pattern. The way the second one forms is much more typical. Then there's the formation in the strictly volatile p86, in which it doesn't converge until generation 11 (5 is a very common convergence point, but past 5 is almost ...

The previous post was a long time ago. This has to do with forums and not cellular automata.

I just want to point out that those rules don't function identically to Life. For example, in the 6-state rule, the pi-heptomino is a quadratic replicator.

The page "century eater" should be deleted. It implies that there's nothing smaller than 20 cells that can properly eat a century. This is plainly not true, even when you consider typical predecessors. How is that complicated one any different?

How do you get more things to build with? The rules of this thread are that you can place up to 12 cells, in the same generation or close-by generations, and then you have to let it evolve to completion. Then you get another 12 cells. If this seems arbitrary, it's because that's how singleplayer li...
