Re: Thread for basic questions
I've just downloaded the mobile version of golly, and created a .rule file for a custom rule. However, when I go to the rule section of the app, the change algorithm to rule loader, there is no option to load a file from my files. Does anyone know how I can load a .rule file from my devices files in...

Re: Rule request thread
Yes, just paste them below the other transition lines. Also, are .rle and .rule the same? No, it's just a coincidence. RLE stands for Run Length Encoding, which just means that a run of n live cells or dead cells is abbreviated as no/nb. Ok, thank you. Just one more thing: where can I run .rule fil...

Re: Rule request thread
I have an idea for one similar to wireworld: If a dead cell is touching two heads, the dead cell becomes a wire. Other then that, it works the same as wireworld. Alternative idea: If a dead cell is touching 3 heads, the dead cell will become a wire. Otherwise, the same as wireworld. Either of these...

Re: Does anyone know if this is a known puffer?
I may have just discovered a new puffer, but I don't know if someone else has already discovered it. I figure that it is probably good to know whether or not this is already known before I start saying that I discovered a puffer, and planning a name for it. I would have attached the code for it, bu...

Is there anyway to stabilize a longer heavyweight spaceship?
I noticed that all of the first spaceships (lwss, mwss, hwss) all extend in the same way. If I am correct, the reason it can't go further is because of the blocks at the top that are not in the lightweight spaceship. Is there anyway to get a second ship (does not have to be the same kind) to stabili...

Re: Thread for basic questions
Is there any puffer that's debris consists of itself? To be more specific, a puffer that leaves behind debris that then either is or becomes the original puffer, just going to one of the two sides instead of travelling in the same direction.
