Re: Can we substantiate this claim?

In "did you know" #160 there is a link to the quadratic growth section of the infinite growth article https://conwaylife.com/wiki/Infinite_growth#Quadratic_growth. ... that it is possible to construct patterns that temporarily exhibit cubic growth ? However that article section does not mention cubi...

Re: Life Lexicon update collection thread

Lexicon appears to be used as an authoritative source for a lot of wiki info. My concern is how we avoid getting into a loop (the source for the wiki is lex which was sourced from the wiki which...).

I'm pretty sure the fourth number is a hash value based on the population change between generations. This is how it's the same each time even if it appears on a different generation.
I think so. How do we get authoritative? Anyone know this definitively?

Re: Can we substantiate this claim?

On the apgcode page, in the encoding objects-suffix section, there is the following curious statement regarding y1:
What the fourth value corresponds to is currently not known; it appears to be a hashing function.
Is this truly unknown? How would it becomes known?

Re: Thread for PatMan (Pattern Manager)

PatMan 1.3 adds support for apgcodes (xs, xp, xq) (https://golhobby.com/patman/).
  • You can use an apgcode instead of an rle in a pattern's txt file
  • You can enter an apgcode instead of an rle in the Enter RLE function

Re: Suggested LifeWiki edits

I would like to draw attention of the community to the current edit war at Nihonium with myself and GUYTU16J involved, and also to Talk:MWSS out of the blue . I do not agree with some of recent edits of GUYTU16J. An independent review of edits could be helpful. I don't have a horse in this race, bu...

Victory! Brilliant! What was it and how did you figure it out?
I searched the Chrome bug reports for recent reported issues and found one that looked similar. The report had a test case and potential workaround so I tried that and it worked.
Bravo! I assume the plugin will need to be updated.

The Tlog(t) growth page has an image for the formula. The image uses both n and t but the n should be t. This can be seen in ref 1 where t is not used and n is.
assuming I'm right, I made a new formula image and inserted it in the article

I think many "important at some point in the history" subjects deserve articles, even if today people are not using them as much - it would be fantastic to have such pages written by someone who knows enough about the subject (i.e. knows what it is all about). (Also this is one reason why I think r...

Does Karel Suhajda's Hersrch merit a wiki article? If so, a few historical sentences would be helpful. Is this the latest version? http://web.archive.org/web/20070117114706/http://www.volny.cz/kasuha/ I'd say it deserves an article. It played a large role in the initial completion of Jason Summers'...
