Re: Very nearly exploding rules

Why not just make my name for this rule, Hochfakultät des Konfokaloid , an alternative name? Because (a) It's honestly ridiculous. Nobody (including me) will want to use it. (b) It refers to a specific person, which would be already enough to reject it. (c) A person who considered this ruleset earl...

Re: Very nearly exploding rules

The discussion of names is off-topic here, and I think fairly ridiculous. Names of rulesets shouldn't refer to specific people. Just because someone explored some ruleset, does not mean it's "their" CA. CA things belong to the CA community, and to everyone who is interested in them. Traditionally if...

Currently wxfile.cpp#RuleCanBeFound just shows a Warning that says the user needs to put the .rule file into their local rules folder. Re: Golly bugs

You want a nicer error message? If people believe the feature "File -> Run Clipboard" is useful and should be kept, then I think better error reporting and additional "safety guards" would help. If the clipboard data doesn't look like valid supported script code, show a message that says so, and re...

This is for those cases when you feed a RLE with one reasonably-low-period object into apgsearch compiled in a "test_stdin" mode, and apgsearch refuses to see it as a single object. --- (compiled for b36ns237c/ror_stdin_test) #C xp32_y24473jssxcczy5gjgw4aicwgy2eoozwccwo4k8y63w1176611zggccsgg10oy0790...

Re: How do I submit directly to Catagolue?

If a pattern was already posted in a more specific existing thread (e.g. the dedicated forum thread for some well-explored CA), then usually it is better to avoid reposting it in a more general thread (like MDiOCA or TFYUCA).
