Re: Thread for basic questions

I am not sure whether this belongs here, but nobody has answered. Can every rule with a 90 degree ref, eater, duplicator and gun with compatible period be proven Turing-complete using something like the 8-bit programmable computer? Probably. Not quite sure. Is it theoretically possible to have a ru...

Re: One Glider Seeds

How are you finding all of these seeds? I found most of these seeds on https://catagolue.hatsya.com/census/b3s23/clean_seeds_stdin , in which I crash a glider into random constellations of small objects. And I found that 1-object seed on https://catagolue.hatsya.com/census/b3s23/1obj_glider_enum_cl...

Re: Rule request thread

I would love B3/S23, but dead cells with 8 neighbours turn into cells that only count as a neighbour for births and not for deaths (Like LifeInvestigator coral cells), and stay like that as long as it has 2, 3 or 4 neighbours, dying otherwise. (Can you also make a Grounded Life version of this?) Su...

I see the errors most of the time, but I tried widening the tab and refreshing and that worked, cutoff seems to be a little under 1280 pixels. Same results in firefox and chromium.

Now we just need an apgsearch run (and make sure to separate objects properly!) to compare the homey farm beehives to the other beehives.
This has some hauls now: https://catagolue.hatsya.com/census/x5xhoneyfarmer

It would be convenient if there was an option to upload hauls every n hours rather than every n soups. The number of soups per hour seems to vary significantly over the course of a search.

Re: Thread For Your Unrecognised CA

I found a simple way for a permute-symmetric ruletable to make the t-tetromino into a ship that's almost exactly the t from tlife (one cell difference in one phase). Only two states are needed for this, but I decided to turn it into a RockPaperScissors variant: @RULE RoShamBoPermuteTKiller 0 dead 1 ...

Re: CatForce new catalyst search utility (LifeAPI based)

Is it a good option to rewrite CatForce with lifelib, or is LifeAPI faster for this purpose? Also, there doesn't seem to be D4 or D8 symmetry support in CatForce, and a lack of documentation on C2 symmetry support (I had to take a look at the source code to obtain the C2 symmetry option of "rotate1...

If you advance a pattern by pressing enter, there doesn't seem to be a way to go back just a few frames, but if you hold space instead, it can take a lot of undo clicks to get back to before you started holding space. I think the undo button should undo repeated space presses in one go, and there s...

Re: Script request thread

Would anyone mind writing a spaceship collision stdin script for INT rules? It would take an RLE, a rule, the number of spaceships to collide, and maybe a symmetry as inputs, preferably upon compilation, and would generate a random (preferably valid) n-spaceship soup when run. It should at least be...
