Re: Spaceship Discussion Thread

Quite some progress! Now we „just“ need to stabilize one small remaining part.

Thanks to all!

Re: Spaceship Discussion Thread

... I never got around organizing results in a better way, unfortunately. C/3 is the one model case where grey ship components are abundant. My tries to make the search for components more popular didn‘t create much echo, so I reckoned they were not perceived as notable generally. Organizing results...

Re: 31c/240 caterpillar working notes

This design now leads to a smaller result than the generic 31c/240 caterloopillar?

Great work! The layout now looks nice and clear and you don't see all the work that went into it.

Re: Suggested LifeWiki edits

ah! Good to know! Of course this was not meant personally in any way! Most of your proposals I would underwrite immediately. However other people might have a different opinion. Even if it was copied from LifeLexicon, there was a reason why it was there originally, which might still be valid or mayb...

Re: Suggested LifeWiki edits

I've seen a lot of deletion proposals to Life Wiki articles by GUYTU6J. My proposal would be to not blindly follow them. E.g. the 3c/10 pi reaction ist not only used in some growing spaceship pattern, but it is also one of the longest outstanding engineering tasks to create a spaceship from that rea...

Re: Spaceship Discussion Thread

... of course there are sometimes lucky coincidences that allow the constructions with what you have. But generally a bigger variety of available ships also gives more sparks or easier route to completion for partial results. I think period 5 is way to low for an incremental build of a line stretche...

Re: Spaceship Discussion Thread

Congratulations! Do we have some decent collection for c/5d to have it all at one place? If you look back historically in small period spaceship searches you always find three phases that come in bursts: 1) the first few single instances with tagalongs, first applications like dirty puffers 2) an ex...

Re: Thread for your unsure discoveries

Welcome to the forums! We have a wealth of c/2 rakes and puffers of period 4n. These can be perturbed by flotilla of *WSS to spaceships of some period 4m. The higher the period the more possibilities to get it somehow. A good starting starting point to learn about this is the life status page in the...

Re: Spaceship Discussion Thread

Thanks for this! The c/5 wave termination allows a steeper descent for c/5 grey ships. Not completely satisfying, as it's not fixed width. Re: c/5 grey ship

... the whole point about grey ships is that they are a grammar to produce an infinite series of similar ships... So of course the examples I provide should be trivially extensible or reducible. They are meant to show how to apply the grammar. I never get around providing a script to create them. Th...

Re: Research on orthogonal lightspeed signals traveling through striped media

the most comprehensive source for signals in agars is till Gabriel Nivaschs (which I would count as early 2000s). The kind of turner that Shaos proposes has never been really investigated seriously, I think. It wouldn't turn up on itself in dr searches except with very specific setup. You could even...

Re: Small Spaceship Syntheses

Of those spaceships that looked accessible to glider synthesis in the very first post of this thread, only two are missing now. One is 44P5H2V0. I guess several already tried this one. The other one on my wish list would be 64P2H1V0, as this would be the first p2. To me it looks as if one could buil...

Re: Small Spaceship Syntheses

Congratulations. This topic seems to develop from pure magic to advanced science. For the sake of completeness, would it be possible to adress the missing small c/2 ships with less than 35 bits to catagolue? If I recall correctly, this should be these six: x = 155, y = 122, rule = B3/S23 3$119b4o2b2...
