Re: Nakano, the new Oscillizer

As of this commit Nakano now computes the minrule and maxrule with respect to both isotropic and outer-totalistic rulespaces and prints the apgcode, which means that Nakano is a super-Oscillizer, with all features of the old program and then some. >>> from shinjuku.nakano import n >>> n("""x = 41, y...

Re: Oscillator Discussion Thread

I've put together a stamp collection of "well-known" (having LifeWiki articles or appeared in some Catagolue soup) oscillators, one of each of the 43 temporal symmetry types, preferably not having mod 1. Feel free to make this even more interesting. x = 409, y = 241, rule = B3/S23 34b2o298b2o$35bo25...

Re: Nakano, the new Oscillizer

Nakano now computes the mod, symmetry and temporal symmetry of input patterns; the output format is essentially the same as that used in DRH's oscillator stamp collection with apgsearch symmetry codes in place of the old custom notation. For example, 2.2.6 has mod 1 and ".c+c" (C2_1 with temporal D4...

Re: Smallest Known Oscillators to p106 (and Beyond)

This variant of caterer on figure eight has the same minimum population as the version in the LifeWiki, but its bounding box is smaller. Does that count? For LCM oscillators I do not use bounding box as a tiebreaker and simply include one of potentially many ways to have the sparks interact. But if...

Well if you need a name to identify it, it definitely isn't a shuttle, so I guess p42 pre-pulsar hassler would be unambiguous.
I named it the p42 pulsar hassler since a full pulsar appears for one generation.

I've pushed a commit to Skopje allowing "boring" oscillators to be excluded by adding the option unique=True (or using skuop() instead) – this includes LCM and signal loop oscillators.
