Re: Thread for Your Accidental Discoveries that Aren't in CGOL
While experimenting with the "Coral" rule (B 3/ S 45678) and the fade rule, it appears that if the fadeout is set below about 43 iterations, that the automaton dies out rather quickly. Above that level it remains active but doesn't settle into a static pattern. With the fade rule off, the same rule ...

Re: Animated GoL
I really enjoyed that video. Good music to go with it, too. How were the colors of the cells assigned?

I like this rule. If you set a short enough maximum lifespan for active cells, the shoots turn into spaceships, as the older cells die out behind the growing point.

Re: B3/S237
I just tried out this rule. It seems to create most of the same small, static and oscillating shapes as Life, but the character and appearance of the more chaotic activity seems to be altered somewhat. Also, the activity doesn't seem to die down as quickly. I think that the "7" has some subtle impacts.

Re: Cellular Explorer
I just made a newer version of the software with some new cell types (mostly very simple ones), including computational cell that detects symmetry in the Moore neighborhood. There are also a number of other refinements. http://lincolncybernetics.com/cellular-explorer/ Also, as an alternative to the ...

Cellular Explorer
Hi, I'm new here on the forum, but I have been interested in cellular automata for quite a while. I decided to scratch my own itch for the subject by creating an automaton editor to allow my own experiments. The main feature it has that doesn't seem to come up much is the abiity to create mixed rule...
