I have absolutely no idea what this is, if it's new, or if it's even worth mentioning, but I've never seen something that grows quite like this before so I decided to post it. x = 5, y = 5, rule = /2/3 2A\$2BA\$2.BA\$.A.BA\$3.BA! It's the ruler sequence! -le snip- ...Dangit now I'm reminded of this one...

How do people even find and verify the periods of oscillators like that?

### Re: Copying and pasting patterns on tablet- help needed

It's simple. Copy the following text (and do the same for any RLE file you might see on the forums): x = 46, y = 51, rule = B3/S23 8b6o5b4o\$8b4o7b2obo\$11b2obo7bo\$13b2o5b2o2\$13b2o5b2o\$11b2obo7bo\$8b4o7b 2obo12b2o\$8b6o5b4o12b2o2\$39bo\$39bo4\$41bo8\$36b2o5b2o\$35bo2bo3bo2bo\$23b 2o11bo2bobo2bo\$24b2o13bobo\$23...

### Re: .colors not working?

Just to be clear: you are aware that Golly no longer (officially) uses .color or .table or any of those file extensions, right? All those are combined into the .rule format now.

### Re: R-pentomino neutronium

Well this has certainly been an interesting set of rules. If anyone is too lazy to figure out the DoubleN rule (which I don't see as likely considering that this is the Conway's Game of Life forum, but meh), here's what I've figured out: The rule has two Neutronium states: red and blue. Red neutroni...

### iOS Golly crash

In the iOS version of Golly, if you pause the simulation, start drawing cells, and then unpause it without taking your finger off the screen, you'll continue drawing cells while the simulation is running. This doesn't cause any problems at first, but if you try to move your finger quickly enough, it...

### "Accurate simulation" feature in Golly?

So I was thinking about stuff and I came up with a possible idea of a feature in Golly. Now, the reason that it has to emulate B0 rules, and odd Wolfram rules aren't even supported, are because of the infinite grid, meaning it would have to update an infinite number of cells. However, some other pro...

### Re: Can we make pre-pulsar shuttle-based guns?

A tiny stable TL-predecessor->glider reaction would make a gun here trivial, which makes me inclined to believe no such reaction exists.. I'm probably mistaken about what you mean exactly by "tiny stable TL-predecessor->glider reaction" but I found this. x = 11, y = 6, rule = B3/S23 2o\$2o7b2o\$9b2o\$...

### Re: Some problems with 64-bit Golly 2.6

Hm, I thought I would've had the 64-bit version of Golly 2.5, but I guess not. That makes sense. The line you're asking about says this when I start the 64-bit version: wx_version=wxWidgets 3.0.0 while it says this on the 32-bit version: wx_version=wxWidgets 2.8.12 You mentioned using 2.8, so maybe ...

### Some problems with 64-bit Golly 2.6

I'm on 64-bit Windows 7. For some reason, 64-bit Golly 2.6 won't recognize python27.dll. I looked in GollyPrefs and saw that there's a path there that is certainly valid and works with Golly 2.5 and 32-bit Golly 2.6. In a very reckless move that I probably shouldn't have done I tried deleting GollyP...

### 2x2 cellular automata question

According to LifeWiki, there are 64 2x2 Margolus rules that can be emulated in Life-like rules. Are there any that can emulate another Life-like rule on a 2x2 scale, with two generations equaling one emulated generation? If I'm not being clear, please let me know and I'll try to come up with a bette...
