That's just human nature.

Also this ship is really cool.

No rule table?
Looking at some of the other recent threads, it looks like there's a thing that automatically generates these ruletables or something, but I don't even know where to begin looking for that (and no searching the forums doesn't help).

Re: how and when you discovered the game of life?

My dad has a computer that has a Life program on it, and playing with that many years ago is how I first learned about it. Years later I "rediscovered" it, and gained interest in it.
...and yep that's pretty much it.

Re: Which page has the longest lifespan

Question, do you mean just LifeWiki pages, Life-related pages in general, or can it be any page at all?
If the latter, I found a page that beats your example, but I want to check to see if I can use it first.

Re: Any rule that doesn't have gardens of eden?

I'm pretty sure the Replicator rule B1357/S1357 is reversible (though sometimes needing infinitely populated predecessors to patterns with finite population), so it cannot have orphans. The same is true for B1357/S02468. But the problem with including infinite population is that there are multiple ...

Re: Golly runs too fast?

This bothers me too, and the annoying thing is it's inconsistent with how the iOS version behaves. On that version, running at n^0 step is a smooth 60 gens per second, but on the computer version running at n^0 basically runs as fast as it feels like. I can avoid this by setting up a 16 ms delay in ...

I wonder if it would be possible to change the name of a link (as in, something like "the most common spaceship" to display "the most common spaceship") instead of being stuck with the name of the article.

Speaking of symmetries, I have a couple questions about rule table symmetries:
-What does the "permute" symmetry mean?
-What is "rotate8"? How would that work with a Moore neighborhood?

That knightship looks like it's (3,4)c/20, not (4,5)c/20.

On an unrelated note: out of curiosity, why do you tend to include the "0 0 0 0" line in the @COLORS section of your rules?

A funny idea for working with "spark-halo" rules. (Though I think there are much easier ways to create chaotic rules that create Life patterns as a side effect, e.g. starting with B123478/S01234678.) I'm also pretty sure this could be condensed for a 2x2 unit cell as well. Technically that rule cre...
