Re: Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds (5s) Project
Thanks, it will be a while before my list is complete enough to post here. I am making it in notepad, as a sort of list, with three sections, orthogonal, diagonal, and oblique. I think I have gotten all known non-B0 oblique ships, though. Tell me if I missed some. I'm not including stuff like Gemini...

Re: Thread for basic non-CGOL questions
I believe that p1 is the max, because otherwise B1e or B1c must be used in some direction, and any direction that B1c is used in will have cells that keep going in that direction, so B1c in any direction is out. Also, if B1c is out, B1e is out too, because without B1c, there is nothing to prevent mo...

My first attempt at that:

Re: Smallest Spaceships Supporting Specific Speeds (5s) Project
I'm working on compiling it now, is it okay if it is in text format, as a list though? I can attach text files of the spaceships to a post and update them occasionally. I do that because it is easier for me to list the specifics too, in this kind of format, with rule name and cell count: - 2c/13 dia...

Please learn how to use Ruleloader, instead of yelling at everyone to do it for you. There are instructions all over the place, and you already got an answer in another topic.

Getting close to a 2c/5 diagonal:
It even goes along puffing stuff for a while before collapsing, can someone complete this?

Re: All directions and infinite speeds
Next thing to do here, find an isotropic rule with the same concept. I was working on it, and got infinite orthogonal and diagonal speeds, but only works for (1,n) slopes. I don't know how hard it will end up being, symmetry really makes it tougher.

Yeah, all we need to do to run gfind is to make an objective-c compiler, easy right? Definitely harder in Life than some other rules.

A way to make n*c ships for any number n, under 25c for 3 state LTL rules: 1. Re: Find a rule with...
Updated the challenges. Muzik, this thread is mostly for numerical based challenges, like highest period, or smallest size, or most spaceships, though I guess your question could be asked: "Find a Non-totalistic rule with the most distinct speed c/(2n+1) ships," or something like that. I am already ...

Re: Still Life problem
No, that sequence is not it, it is a different thing. Use polyplets, essentially connected patterns, and only use polyplets that have no cells with 4 or more live neighbors (essentially use polyplets that can be stabilized). So exclude polyplets like this phase of the glider, where the middle cell i...

Still Life problem
This is a strange challenge, and it probably can be solved by a computer program, but here it is: For a n-cell polyplet in Life, what is the specific n-cell polyplet that takes the most cells to stabilize? This is excluding Coolout Conjecture examples. For n = 1, 2, 3, and 4, the solutions are 4, 4,...
