Neat looking CA

We're all looking for rules with huge possibility or interest, but there are few rules chosen just because they look cool or because they are fun to watch.
Here are some of my favorites:

x = 1, y = 1, rule = /1/4
A!

x = 1, y = 1, rule = B0/S6
o!

Re: Updating the main applet

Although I'm not an artist myself, I'm thinking that perhaps the border (if there is any) would either be a Herschel track or some sort of rectangle of spaceship gun. In either case, the border would probably be animated, and the border itself would lead to a corresponding page (which probably mean...

computing methuselahs

I've always wondered if there's a way to generate random patterns that last for a very long time, one after another, using some algorithm. I've made some observations about the average methuselah, but I just can't seem to establish something that they all have. I have, however, made the steps I thin...

Well, writing a rule table is not easy for this, and it can get pretty bloated with all the scripts and in-between neighbors to simulate it, so I think writing an algorithm would be better.
