Re: Glider gun with a higher density of gliders.

Hmm, p22 seems to be the smallest true period here.

Re: Minor discoveries

What I think is the smallest billiard table configuration possible (in terms of bounding box) (though not proven). x = 10, y = 5, rule = B3/S23 2o2b2o$o2bo2bob2o$bobo2bobo$2obo2bo2bo$4b2o2b2o! 5×10=50. Fore and back has that beat at 7×7=49. If nonrectangular bounding boxes are allowed, that one can...

Naming patterns

Firstly… Can I propose renaming the shillelagh to a "long eater"? Or since it fails to actually function as an eater, "long fishhook" if you prefer? That'd make more sense, I think. Exhibit A: Integral, Long integral, Very long integral OO... OO.... OO..ØO. O.... O..ØO. O..Ø..O .OØO. .OØ..O .OØ..OO ...

Re: Wishlist

This is less of a "component I'd have use for" and more of a "would be neat to see" newb query, but… has anyone attempted a p4 windowblinds spacefiller? This might exist either in a square form — a "two-headed" spaceship flotilla with new two-headed spaceships constantly added to the sides — or in t...

Re: indestructible pattern

The T-tetromino replicator (found in a cylindrical Life universe of circumference 6) seems to make a fairly indestructible wall. Granted, it doesn't exactly stay put… Edit: Nevermind, it doesn't defend very well against irregular superstring salvos (which in turn are easily block'd by a few, well, b...

Re: Methuselah Definition

Hello LifeForums! Well, a Methuselah is defined by, essentially, the size of the original pattern versus the size of the reaction it creates, right? If we make a standard for this, we will be able to give any pattern ratings based on this, and we can decide what rating makes the pattern a Methuselah...
