... made possible with caterloopilar technology and c/8 diagonal does not have any explanation. I think the c/8 diagonal spaceship referring to speed demonoid technology. Caterloopilar Speed Demonoid

Re: Speed Demonoid
The script can't actually build Demonoids much faster than 2498c/10000, because it starts to run into trouble with the numbers getting too large for the interface between Golly and the Python script: OverflowError: Python int too large to convert to C long Pavgran has produced a version of the scri...

Re: Demonoid (diagonal Geminoid) completed!
If somebody doesn't pick up this little project again soon, I might not be able to resist finishing it. I really want to see if it's a new record small size, and how many gigabytes of memory Golly will need to run away with it. Apologies for my lack of activity. Catching up with real life, I doubt ...

Re: Demonoid (diagonal Geminoid) completed!
I had to move the blocks 7fd farther apart, I think Whoops, I guess I put it wrong. The only thing missing is the "hand" block (shown in yellow in the attachment) for the next generation. The easiest thing to do would be to compile it in with the recipe. You can put it there or anywhere else, prett...

Re: Demonoid (diagonal Geminoid) completed!
(Sorry for something not constructive) dvgrn, your upgraded builder script lacks the first glider. You should probably change the line: clist=gliderlist[0] to g.putcells(gliderlist[0]) Returned here and now I get the hang of it. I think I can do all the way through constructing the glider duplicator...

Re: Demonoid (diagonal Geminoid) completed!
Looks good so far. Theoretically that's most of the compilation needed for the new Demonoid, right there. Of course in practice, stringing all the pieces together is going to be a little messier...! Thanks. I'm trying to get my hands on this when I have time, but ...

Re: Demonoid (diagonal Geminoid) completed!
Wow, I'm astonished how short it takes to run slmake! Here's my first run of the program (in linux, so no sweat.) x = 35109, y = 35075, rule = B3/S23 2o$2o127$133b2o$132b2o$134bo126$263b2o$262b2o$264bo126$389b2o$388b2o$ 390bo126$512b2o$511b2o$513bo126$649b2o$648b2o$650bo126$762b2o$761b2o$ 763bo126$8...

Re: Demonoid (diagonal Geminoid) completed!
... really nice to see this! This isn't my area of expertise so I'm definitely not qualified to ask questions like this but from watching the new Demonoid run for a bit the following thought ran through my mind: A whole lot of single-channel gliders are spent creating a constellation with 0-degree ...

Re: New construction arms
... reply. I think I got most of what you said. Just one confusing thing: The 153-tick investigation is interesting because it allows a single-channel Demonoid to be constructed, which is much simpler than the 0hd Demonoid, though it will probably have a higher population and a bigger bounding box. ...

Re: Very Low Expansion Factor?
I think alexey's design, if made real, would be smaller and easier to watch and prove. Caterloopilars and Demonoids are good options that seem to be somewhat like steroids. They take less effort but the results work anyhow. (And it feels a bit like cheating... Not saying it's ...

Re: Demonoid (diagonal Geminoid) completed!
Maybe there's a way to generalize the method to be able to handle arbitrary-length diagonal rectangles, without higher-order rectangles getting too wide and picking up neighboring opposing glider streams... Not too sure. For a cell 'c' to advance in N gens one would have to get the information of a...

Re: Demonoid (diagonal Geminoid) completed!
Wow. Nice to see it fly. I was sort of @_@ when viewing the posts here, actually, and I'm still kinda @_@ right now after watching that fly but I do see that it's way simpler than the original gemini and the replicator, and I see (vaguely) what you've doing here and there. Congrats to all! Ahh. Afte...
