Not sure. Maybe Big Sur automatically changes the icon color to help distinguish different versions of the same app.

If the layer is clean and you accidentally close Golly or hit the New Pattern button then you don't get a chance to cancel that operation.

Suggestion: Make golly automatically save your pattern if you accidentally close it or it crashes (or when a power outage happens). Go to the Preferences > Layer pane and make sure the "Quitting application" option is ticked. Then if you accidentally close Golly and there are unsaved changes (ie. t...
